How long will your engagement be?

I'm leaving out any answers under 9 months, as it would be impossible at this point.

My wedding date will EXACTLY 1 1/2 years after our engagement. We got engaged April 13, 2011 and will get married October 13, 2012

I prefer a long engagement! I've changed my mind several times and just now decided on colors etc. Plus, I like to pace myself with wedding planning. Sometimes I'm into, sometimes I'm not! It's nice to be able to spread things out.

Our wedding will be 2 years and about a month and a half after our engagement. Engaged on 9/1/10 - Married on 10/20/12

Engaged on 07/22/11 and married on 10/20/12. So right at 15 months. I didn't want to be pressured to plan everything in a few months and it is too hot here in summer. So October it is!

We got engaged 5/15/11 and will be married 10/14/12 so like a year and 5 months being engaged. I wanted to have the time to just enjoy being engaged for at least a couple months before I started diving into wedding planning like crazy. Plus, I wanted to avoid a summer time wedding because everyone always has one and prices are are higher then. Weather is still very warm and summery through October here in Socal so we decided to get married the next October!

I just counted it out, and it will be a whole 20 months (engaged Feb 14/11), that sounds like a long time! I didn't want to bother with wedding planning, so I kept putting it off. I think it was about 6 months before I decided on an actual date haha.

I'm surprised how many 2+ year-ers there are out there with me! FI proposed during my first year of medical school, he's finishing his PhD in May, so we decided to wait until at least one of us had a salary to get married!! So two years and 10 months... but I'm so excited that it's getting close now! Honestly, a long engagement has really paid off for us, it's been a blissful two years!

Besides, who doesn't like an excuse to plan a wedding for that long!!!

Word to all with long engagements: all the benefits of planning so far out (i.e. having your pick of vendors, locking in low prices before they go up) all seem to disappear at about the 1 year away mark - so enjoy it while you can and snap up your vendors!

Engaged 4/30/11 and married 10/19/12! I was just telling my FI how nice it has been having the longer engagement because I don't feel rushed to plan and I am getting my pick of vendors!

We got engaged on 5/22/11 and are getting married 10/6/2012. I wanted a long-ish engagement to take some of the stress out of planning and because we hadn't been together for all that long- just over a year- and so I figured having a longer engagement would be a good idea.

Engaged 1/1/11 getting married 10/13/12 so somewhere around 1year 9 months, its been really nice, we had almost all the big stuff done by the 1 year mark.

We got engaged in May 2011 and will be married on Oct 11 so we will be engaged for 1 yr 5 months. We both wanted a shorter engagement but we decided to wait because of financial reasons.

Wow! I am also so surprised who has been engaged for 2+ years. I am also beat which I thought was even more shocking! We were engaged 03/05/10 and getting married 10/20/12, so that will be 2 years and 7 months. Crazy!

Engaged 12/19/2010, married 10/13/2012...

We bought a house so we needed time to save up $ again, plus its been nice not rushing anything, getting the vendors we want and being able to save and pay for them before the wedding comes=)

Engaged on 11/6/10 and getting married on 10/20/12 soo almost 2 years. I probably would have gotten married this year but I didnt want to deal with the stress of a wedding and trying to get though school at the same time. I graduate May 2012 soo October 2012 felt right.

We were engaged 12/17/10 and getting married 10/13/12. We didn't want to stress ourselves out with planning and it allows us more time to become more financially stable. We have got a lot of our planning done already, but we don't feel rushed and that's exactly what we were looking for

22 months here. We got engaged 12/15/10 and the wedding date is 10/13/12.

We wanted time to save up and we didn't date very long before we got engaged (it was our 9 month anniversary when he proposed) so we thought it would be wise not to rush the wedding. It's flying by though, so I'm really glad we planned it this way.
