Seriously.. are you a child?

So my one cousin let me know yesterday that unfortunately their babysitter fell through and so her husband is staying home with the kids. It sucks yes, but understandable. They tried to find someone else and had no luck.
Well then my other cousin (her sister) messaged me on facebook to let me know that her husband (a real winner) has decided he isnt coming because other cousin's husband isnt. Apparently she was only able to convince him to come in the first place because there would be another 'boy' to talk to. She told me "I hope you can make use of the extra seat" ... oh yes 6 days away, I'll just invite someone?

I already printed and assembled my seating chart, and had split up people between 2 tables, that could now all fit at one table. So I don't know, do I reprint the 2 tables and try to peel off the ones already there. Or since it is family just let them know that infact they are at table 8, not table 7?

So I am soo tempted to tell cousin #1 to bring her kids (5 & 2) to fill cousin #2s husband's seat. But since other than my niece there are no kids invited, it would cause major drama.

  • Well, is there arny other person or couple that you wanted to invite that you didn't have room for before? Someone you could invite by word of mouth? If it was me though, I would probably just let the extra seats slide. No use in having 2 more mouths to feed, unless you've already paid for food for those 2 mouths.
  • Oh man, that is ridiculous!

  • Since the wedding is this Saturday we have already paid for the 2 sudden declines. We cant really invite someone else. We invited everyone local we wanted to attend. Besides which, I cant imagine anyone not being offended that a few days before we suddenly ask them to come to the wedding that we didnt invite them to previously you know?

Oh well, nothing I can do about it. it just aggrevates me. There better not be anymore no shows!

  • Honestly, 2 people backing out at this point is NOTHING.  My FSIL had about 20 from the groom's side back out the week before!  So consider yourself lucky and don't worry about it.  Plus, you'll inevitably have no-shows, etc.  People are rude and don't think when they're responding to weddings that hey the B&G are paying per head.  I would just ask if you could take those two meals "to go."  It's kinda tacky, but for all the money you spend per plate I say do it - I would! lol
