Dress Shops

I am coming down from Knoxville to try a dress. I really feel like this is THE dress, but Atlanta is the closest that anyone has one in store to try. With that being said, in the event that this turns out to not be THE ONE. Does anyone else have any suggestions of places I could check some out to make my trip worth-while? I really am looking for something a little different maybe a shorter length dress. The one I'm coming specifically to try is tea length. So if there is anywhere that sells unique or quirky ones, that would be ideal. Thanks!

Can you tell us the name of the store you intend to visit, so we don't suggest it?

Sure thing. It is Sweet Elegance Bridal. I had the name written down I just didn't have it with me when I originally posted. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

There are several shops around Atlanta that offer a wide variety and some come down to designer and price point.

I've heard great things about Kelly's Closet (though I haven't been myself):
    http://www.kellyscloset.net/designers.cfm

La Raine's (in The Highlands)  http://www.larainesboutique.com/

Those two come to mind as having a more unique selection.  I know you need an appointment @ La Raine's and possibly @ Kelly's.

Maybe I'll see you at Sweet Elegance--I'll be there Saturday!

I went to Kelly's Closet not too long ago, and it was the BEST. The dresses are pricey, but the service is phenomenal. I wish I had the budget to afford a dress there!

Good luck on your trip to the ATL!

Thanks! I actually am not going until the beginning of August. I've called Sweet Elegance twice to ask a couple of questions and both people I've talked to have been phenomenal, so I am hoping that the in person experience is just as great. I'd love to hear any feedback you have of your experience. I am really hoping it is a quick decision. I've been going back to photos of this dress for over two months now so I am hoping that means this is THE ONE! I've been engaged since December and people are just in shock and awe that I haven't gotten a dress yet!

Where is a good place to shop from wedding dresses other than David's Bridal, I would like to have a wedding dress that I haven't seen on other brides, I want something all my own. (:

Gardenlady, my biggest suggestion for you is to utilize the dress tool on this web site or just start digging through magazine or even just Google searches of vague ideas you might have of what you want. You can narrow down the search based on neckline, length, etc. Once you've found a few that you like, look on that designer's website to find out where the closest retailers to you are. People can suggest specific places to you all day long, but until you really have an idea of what you like or what designers you tend to go for you could spend hours upon hours looking up the dress shops. Luckily for me, I was able to take the suggestions above and look and see what the shops people have suggested above had in terms of designers I had already tried on in local shops versus ones that I might not be able to find in my area.

I also suggest to be very open minded when you begin the dress shopping process. There were dresses I saw online that I loved, but I put them on and they did absolutely nothing for me. I tried on one dress as a joke and ended up loving the idea of it and it totally pointed me into the direction that I really wanted to go in for a dress.

Also, I know it is difficult to get everyone together that you want to go shopping with you, but if you start trying and gets overwhelming and where dresses are just running together in your head, call it a day. I even dropped by a place afterwork toward the end of the day and just tried on one dress I had tried on last b/c I couldn't really remember it.
