steaming your dress

how are you going to transport your dress? I dont know if i should send the dress to a cleaners once we arrive to have it steamed, steam it myself, or just put it in a bathroom filled with steam? IF i steam it before I leave and carry it on, will it needs to be steamed again?

    I wasn't sure what to do so I hired someone to come to my hotel room to steam my dress the day before my wedding. She also did Hubby's suit. It was wrinkled from the plane so I'm glad I did this. My first flight was small so their was no closet to store my dress. The overhead compartments were smaller also so I actually had to fold my dress and put it in there. My second flight was bigger and the pilot put my dress in his closet. When carrying it through the airport I couldn't hold it up the whole time so I did have to fold it over my arm. It wasn't terribly wrinkled but it would've shown in pic so I'm glad I hired someone to come directly to my room! I personally, was afraid to send it somewhere to have it steamed. Bad thoughts entered my head when I thought of it. The $105 was worth it for me! I know a few girls brought a steamer and had good results. I didn't go this route because I probably wouldve burned a hole in my tulle....I have terrible luck!

    My MOH brought a hand held steamer and my mom steamed it for me. Worked great.

    I just inquired the other day with a person who offers a steaming service in Key West.  I am waiting to hear back on her pricing for my dress the the guys linen.  Depending on how much she charges we will either use her or get a hand-held steamer to being with us!

    I was told at Davids Bridal when I bought the dress that I could bring it to them to get it steamed for free.  The store is only about 15 minutes from my parents house so I am debating on bringing it there.  I may just hang it in my parents closet and do a steamer.  IDK yet though.
