Suspect arrested in child's bikini robbery incident at daycare
A man was arrested Monday morning in connection with the daycare robbery on October 20.
Investigators with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received several tips from the community about the suspect seen wearing a child’s pink bikini in surveillance video at Kidscape Daycare on West Washington Street. One of the tips led officers to the 1300 block of North Pennsylvanian Street to talk to Robert Brenneman, 43, who indicated to investigators he was the man seen in the video.
Police said Brenneman began running from the apartment officers responded to. Police said he ran inside Cathedral-Ss Peter and Paul, where he was later apprehended. Police arrested Brenneman on an outstanding parole violation for an unrelated burglary.
Brenneman was then interviewed about the burglary of the daycare. Police said he told investigators he owned the swimsuit and changed into it when he illegally entered the business. Brenneman is preliminarily charged with criminal trespass and resisting arrest.
Surveillance video showed the suspect breaking into Kidscape Daycare on West Washington Street on October 20. He then started undressing and changed into a child’s pink bikini he found in one of the rooms.
The man is then seen wandering around in the building before he triggered a security alarm.
