  Now might be a good time to shop, just because there are a lot of summer weddings, so as fall starts you might find some good deals.  Also, you have plenty of time so you don't need to feel stressed if you don't immediately find something you love.

  I got married in August and ended up going to India in May do do my shopping.  I felt that it was a bit rushed, but I wasn't able to go to India any sooner than that.  I wasn't able to do my makeup trial or pick out color schemes, flowers, etc until I had chosen my clothes.  Pretty much everywhere you go, colors, etc will depend on what you are wearing.  If I had to do it again, I probably would have wanted to finish up my clothes shopping about 4-6 months prior to the wedding.
