Re: 2 questions...steamer and veil

  • For my veil I'm not flipping anything, just letting it fall back so I'm not much help on that one.

As for the care of the dress, I am definitely considering bringing one of those little hand steamers to use. They have them pretty cheap!
  • 1.  I am renting a steamer for the day of the wedding, I figured everyone could get use out of that.

    2.  I have a single layer veil and I am not flipping it.  In my opinion I dont think it would look right to have a the full veil in front of your face and nothing hanging in the back, so I am no help there, sorry.
  • I'm going to bring my steamer... I used it on my veil for my boudoir and it worked SO well.

  • I don't mean to hijack here but where did you ladies get your steamers? I've been wondering how the dress will stay wrinkle free too. I've never used a steamer and have no idea how! Lol I'm also wearing a one tiered veil but I think you would need a two tiered veil to flip...otherwise you won't have a veil behind you when you walk down the aisle an it might look weird.
  • Agree with PP that you have to have a blusher to flip.  A one-tiered would look weird.  And I'm traveling with my dress the week before the wedding so I'll be borrowing a steamer from the seamstress who is 1. local! and 2. making FMIL's dress.
  • I bought a steamer off of Amazon for about 30 bucks. It had really good reviews and I got free shipping with it. I plan to use it for my dress and my veils.

And, OP, I agree with the others, it would be weird to flip a one tier veil and walk down with nothing in the back. You can get a blusher veil for pretty cheap if that's what you want to do.

You can rent them from the rent-a-center... I dont know the exact cost because my mom is paying it.
  • I bought my steamer off Amazon for around $50 and it has saved me HUNDREDS in dry cleaning bills - when something's just wrinkled or smelly (like cigarette smoke from a bar or something), I can just steam it right out.  Voila!

I'm bringing the steamer for my dress & the uniforms for FI & his groomsmen.  We're also using it on the linens.

For the veil, I think flipping just one layer would look odd.  I have a tiered veil, but I'm not using it as a blusher - it will stay behind me the whole time.
