Groom's Cake at Rehearsal Dinner?

One of the recently married Knotties mentioned having the Groom's cake at the RD.  This sounds like a great idea.  Anyone else doing this?  Any comments?  Thanks for all your help.

    I had an awesome groom's cake at our RD. The cake was done by Edible Creations. DH was totally surprised and he loved it! So much of the wedding tends to be about the bride so I thought it was nice to give him this special thing.

    For those who did have a grooms cake at the RD, was there also desert being served?  FI's parents are paying for the RD and they already set up the entire menu including 2 deserts to be offered.  Would it be way too much to also have a grooms cake?

    We had another dessert besides the Grooms Cake because it was included. Some people didn't eat the cake and others didnt eat the other dessert.

    Im having it at the RD too...I have always seen them there so I thought it was normal...just recently I figured out ppl have them at the wedding as well..lol..

    Anyways im ganna use it to surprice FI lol..

    If there is desert it shouldnt matter...ppl will usually have cake with the coffee eitherway...or they can choose what they like... :)

    I am having the grooms cake at the RD....we have two desserts at the dinner that is included in the package....

    I'm planning on doing it at the RD too. The tricky part is... he likes ice cream cake!

    I'm not doing dessert, but yes Groom's cake at RD. It will probably be shaped like an iPhone.

    Im doing the grooms cake at the RD and my place offers dessert too so people can choose what they like.
