For awhile now my FI and I have been wanting to do bbq style food at our reception. It's still going to be a traditional reception in a nice venue, but we're adding our own personal touch by having the comfort food we love to eat. We were hoping to have a hog roast (I absolutely love any type of pork) however after talking to our caterer they said they could do a roasted hog but it would have to be served more like traditional pulled pork to serve all of our guests. Also, the only bbq type sides that had available were cole slaw, potato salad, and bbq beans. One good thing is that our caterer is willing to take any recipe we give them and make it for our guests.
So my question is, how can we add a bit our sophistication to our menu to make it a bit more special than any other weekend bbq without completely losing the foods we love?
