Favors - PIP

We are going to do candies for our favors and I found these cute little boxes for them at Michael's the other day.  The boxes came out to about 30 cents a piece so it looks like our favors will come in well below what we were budgeting.  I'm so excited!

  • SO cute and you definitely can't beat the price, nice find!  What kind of candies are you thinking?!

  • Those are cute!  I like that they won't all be the same color!  I can't wait to start finding sweet bargains like that.

  • We are going to do M&Ms in pink, white and black.  We were originally budgeting to do the personalized ones but when I realized the plain ones cost half as much, I got over that real quick!

  • I'm doing the same thing!  I got the boxes months ago and am just waiting until the wedding gets closer to assemble.  What are you thinking about putting in them?  I'm likely doing homemade brownies (people love them) or something else edible.

  • I'm doing pink and white M&M's for my favor too! I was the same way with the personalization - once I saw the price difference I thought about the fact that my guests are going to eat them with or without anything personalized, so it's not worth it to me! I'm planning on using transparent pillow boxes for mine, although I do really like the boxes you found! Might steal your idea! :)

  • Those are great!  I love the alternating box and ribbon colors.  They will look so cute.

    Question for everyone:
How are you thinking of displaying your favors?
I've seen where they are part of the escort card, so lined up on a table.
I've seen where they are already at each place setting for the guests.
I've also seen where there will be a basket or table of favors set up towards the exit for guests to take one as they leave for the night.
  • Julbgordo, I'm likely putting them at each place setting.  However, if not they will all go on a table nicely displayed.

  • We're going to get the small mason jars (1/2 pint, they're only 50 cents each) and make our own strawberry jam with my aunt's recipe. Then we're going to get a cute sticker to stick on the top!

We'll probably use them as part of their place setting so we know everyone gets one and I'll be realy proud of them, so I'll want to show them off!
  • What a great deal!!!  Good job!!!

I am getting my bridesmaid/family together to make chocolate covered pretzels for my favors.  I'm thinking of putting 3 in a bag with a thank you tag and ribbon and putting a bag at each place setting.

  • I'd like to put them at each place setting, or have them be incorporated into the escort card table.  FI recently decided he'd like to be in charge of favors, and he doesn't really have any ideas except non-edible (I wanted edible, which is what spurred him taking over).

    Uh-oh.  What do you think he'll come up with?  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />
  • I just asked him and he said "You'll have to wait and see."

AKA he has no idea, and I may have to take the project back from him if he still has this stance in a few months.

  • HAHA!  That's awesome.

I couldn't even imagine what my FI would choose to do.  I want to do personalized Jones Soda, which FI loves anyway.  I haven't decided if I want them at the place settings or use them as escort cards.

Me either.  I am still trying to teach mine not to overcook pasta and burn garlic bread - let alone pull off favors for 100 people!

  • @tiffany- your boxes are adorable and i love the alternating colors!

@skybrie- also very funny.  other way aroud for us.  FI had to teach me about al dente.  now we kind of meet in the middle, but i have grown to appreciate it.  plus, i love that my FI does most of the cooking!

we are thinking of foregoing favors and instead make a donation to a non-profit organization called The Abigail Harrison Foundation for the Adaptive Arts which helps raise money for art therapy programs (mainly in hospitals) who are on the verge of losing their funding.  if you're interested the website is abbyslegacy.org  abby is actually my BFs lil sis who passed away from spina bifida.  as she spent much of her life in and out of hospitals, art therapy was something that brought her a lot of joy and, well, therapy.  so now, i can give back to something i believe in, and give the gift in honor of our guests.

  • I love Jones Soda!  What a good idea!

Also, to those of you discussing teaching your FI to cook, I just want to volunteer that a couple weeks ago I taught mine how to make Ramen noodles.  I am not kidding.  He isn't illiterate so I'm not quite sure how the directions on the package didn't do the trick, but a tutorial was necessary.

OP-I forgot to say this before but those boxes are so cute!  I hope to find something similar in my colors if I need to box up something.

  • Thanks everyone! Michael's had those boxes in several different colors and between them and a store like Joann, you'd definitely be able to find the perfect ribbon colors. They come flat in the package and are very easy to put together. One thing I love about them is that once they are assembled, the insides are colored also, not white like some of the boxes I've seen.
We are going to put them at the place settings, alternating black and pink. :)

  • I AM TOTALLY STEALING THIS IDEA!!!
  • Please steal, it is a great price!

FYI for those of you looking to do candy: I went to Hobby Lobby today and they have the chocolate candy, Sixlets, in various colors.  They are $6.99 for a 14oz bag (M&Ms are $6.99 for a 7oz bag). Hobby Lobby currently has them on sale for 50% off and the manager told us they go on sale like this frequently.  He also said that they would order the colors we needed (at the sale price) if their stock was low during the sale.

Also, I went to Archiver's today to get ideas for a thank you tag, and this is what we came up with.  The tag is from their white shimmer card stock (shimmer doesn't show in picture), and we used their die cutter to make the tag shape.  Then we used a small acrylic stamp for the "thank you".
