cookies!!!

So, my mother called me last night to let me know that she thinks that in addition to the candy buffet we are having, we should also have cookies. Apparently, this is something my grandma would really like to see. I am a big sweets lover, so of course I am embracing the idea, but this is the first time I'm thinking about cookies!

Where did or where are fellow Pittsburgh Brides getting their cookies from?!

Where is your reception? What area of town do you live in?

I live in South Side, and our reception was in West Mifflin. Some of the ladies in my family made tons of cookies, the rest we ordered from Dave's Terrace Bakery in Pleasant Hills/South Park/Baldwin area. http://daveterracebakery.webs.com/

But let the girls here know your locations, they may be able to point you in the right direction to a place closer to you/your reception.

Thanks! I live in Green Tree, right near the city and the reception is in Penn Hills, about 10 minutes on the other side of the city!

Yeah, it's usually tradition that friends and definitely family make them (the tip is to make a bunch months beforehand and just freeze them!).  However, I'm sure we'll be buying some, too.  Any bakery would do.  We usually go to Oakmont Bakery but I'm sure there are lots more out your way.  I think the rule of thumb is about 6-7 cookies per person.. but I would be wrong.

Ditto PP, usually friends and family make them.  But, if its not the norm in your family's circle, and nobody offers, then it might be kind of awkward to ask for it.  There is a tea shop/bakery on Wabash in the West End called Zoe's Herbs and Teas.  I actually got three dozen cookies for a wedding there once, because I promised cookies adn then just didn't feel like cooking.  Her cookies/food is seriously amazing and close to where you live.

Yep, my family and friends will be making the cookies as well.  See what you can get volunteered and then choose a bakery that's close.  Unfortunately I don't have any recommendations since I live north of the city.

I have a lot of aunts and they are making mine. But we are getting some fromOakmont Bakery.  Also check with your venue about traying/displaying the cookies.  I know some places it is an extra charge.

You could try Pastries A LA Carte. They are on Rt 51. My friends have used them and been very happy.
