Centerpiece questions

We're having our reception at an Old school Italian restaurant in Royal Oak. It's very.... mob like inside. Dark wood, dark everything and we love it. What kind of centerpieces would we use? I feel like flowers might be too fancy for the space (which is fine cause that would save us lots of money)... what other ideas are out there other than flowers and candles that wouldn't look too formal and elegant? TIA.

    A lot of people use glass vases with colored rocks and stuff in them - do you have a wedding theme? Draw from your wedding colors or a hobby you have.

    When I think of old, dark "mob like" I think of the Rat Pack, but then I'm old enough to remember them Wink. For those that are not, that's what they called Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr............gosh I'm old LOL

    Do you have colors picked out? Something you might want to think about is maybe really full & "plume-y" (OK, not a word) feathers in some sort of tallish glass vases. If it's narrow at the top you'd only need 2-3 per vase.

    A single red rose in a bud vase is also sort of old fashioned and "mob-ish".

    If it's dark, you probably do want some candles of some type.

    If you haven't gone to Dealer's Discount Floral in Centerline yet, I'd highly recommend walking through it. If you have the least bit of imagination you'd probably get some ideas. They have candles, different or traditional candle holders, vases, silk flowers, feathers, ribbons, OMG, just tons of stuff. The far wall to the left after you walk in has 2 aisle of wedding "stuff". It is really amazing.
    They are on 10 Mile Rd just east of Van Dyke..........not open on Sundays. Across the street there is also Heinreich's Cake & Candy store........they have everything to make candies, cakes, lots of wedding cake toppers. Again, so much if you are creative, or know anyone who is.

    Our colors are Sangria and black with hints of light pink and ivory. I have been to that store before. It's pretty insane and I get totally over whelmed! I was thinking candles, but was just thinking something maybe other than that to do. Maybe it will just be candles lol.
