Bouquet Preservation

I am doing a DW to Las Vegas. I am carrying a large bouquet of cascading, peach colored roses.

I was wondering, does anyone here have experience with preserving a bouquet that you would need to fly back with? I think they would let me carry it on, I can check that out.

Should I give it a try to get this home and dry it, or should I just do a toss and be done with it?

Re: Bouquet Preservation

  • I flew back from Key West to St. Louis with my bouquet in my carry-on.  They ended up checking my bag b/c, along with my sand ceremony items, they said I had more "organic material" than normal.  :)  They checked the sand but weren't concerned at all with the flowers.

My bouquet was delivered to me sitting in a vase with water, which was in a box, so the stems were in but the flowers were out.  I put it in our carry-on (a small duffel bag) with other stuff on either side of the bouquet box to keep it more stable.  Besides the fact that the lilies were already dying and a few petals fell off, it wasn't smushed or anything.

It sounds like your bouquet may be bigger than mine was, so you might want to check with a florist to see if you can buy a box that will hold the whole bouquet, and then I suggest putting that in your carry-on as well.

  • Thanks! I think I will give it a try.
