Workout Accountability: Tuesday

Good morning!

I lifted yesterday, put in 40 minutes on the elliptical and then 20 minutes on the bike since I had some time to kill.  I also ate healthy yesterday, so I hope to keep that up the rest of the week.

It's going to be 70 here today!  I can't wait to run outside later!

How did everyone else do?

Re: Workout Accountability: Tuesday

  • I am so proud of myself! I walked/jogged for 45 minutes, did 100 situps then dance class for an hour. Good for u too!

  • I ran for 30 minutes this morning, and have every intention on splurging for some free Rita's today.  Happy Spring!

I'm still recovering from the marathon... I posted about it in yesterday's accountability thread for those who were asking about it.  I have a massage scheduled for this evening, and I'll probably try a little jog Thursday to work out some of that lactic acid.  Other than that I'm taking this week pretty easy.
  • Medic, congrats on finishing that!  That was such a major accomplishment and you should be SO proud.  I'm still flirting with the idea of a half but I don't know if I could do what you did.  You go gurrrrrl.

Last night I interval trained and ran 3 miles in just under 24 minutes which is a good time accomplishment for me after not having really run for awhile.  FI is pushing me to do the 10K on April Fool's and I think I'm going to do it.  It will be good practicefor the 7 miler later in the summer.  I also did my second day of the Ab challenge I found on Pinterest.  I'm less sore so that's a good sign, and I could finish all of it :)

Tonight is my 5 min ab workout and some lifting. I might throw in some elliptical if I feel up to it.
  • Had a great gym night last night - 10 minutes on the stairmaster (it's at least getting easier now), 35 minutes on the elliptical and then 25 minutes of weight lifting. Slightly sore from the weight lifting but in a good way - I needed to kick it up a notch!

  • Medi: I read your update, congratulations!  I think you earned yourself a nice massage, that sounds like a good idea.  I don't think I'd be able to move for a week if I were you.

lbarr: Nice job on your 3 mile time!

  • Medi - Awesome job!! You should be so proud of yourself :)

Last night i did weights for about 45 minutes when I got home from work. This morning I went to spin. It's going to be almost 80 here today!! This is like totally unheard of for March in this area. We have had such crazy weather lately. I'm finding myself about 250 calories short today even with all my meals, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can add in some more calories without eating a candy bar??

  • Last night was a bit of cardio and weight lifting at the gym. Today, I'll go to a circuit training class. I'm feeling like summer is closer than it actually is with all the beautiful weather we've been getting here in Chicago! Love it!

  • Medi - Reading about the amount of pain you were/are in makes my body hurt.  Go enjoy that massage and congrats!

Mari - a handful or two of almonds would help you get those calories in quickly and easily

  • Excellent work Medi! I am going to go read your update from yesterday!!

I've got a 3 mile run scheduled, but it is so nice I might have to do a little more!
  • Ok I just read it and Medic! Amazing! I did laugh to myself a little because I felt EXACTLY the same way when I ran the marathon. I just wanted to die and couldn't stop crying and it was the worst! I swore I'd never do another, but recently I've been thinking about it! I guess the horror of it fades after a while!

Anyway, you are amazing! Just moving, no matter how fast or slow for 26.2 straight miles is an accomplishment, it is a long ass way. You have so much to be proud of!

  • Medic: Many many congratulations on such an awesome accomplishment and on now joining the less than 1% of the US population of runners who've completed a marathon. That's no small feat and it's something to be really truly proud of despite the pain and feeling sick to your stomach.  Enjoy that massage as best you can. Smile

I've got spinning class in about an hour so I will do that. Will probably do a 30-minute full body high intensity circuit later this evening too. Will report back if I do/don't... figure that'll keep me accountable to doing it right?

It's a busy day today with meetings with the florist to finalize our flowers for the ceremony and reception and a meeting with my dissertation chair to go over my presentation for this Thursday. My desk is a dichotomous mess of wedding planning stuff and research. I can't wait to be done with the dissertation Thursday. Hope it all goes well.

  • Thanks so much you guys!  I think if I had a little more energey I'd probably be more excited about my accomplishment :)

kpdorr- I'm so glad I'm not the only one who lost control of my emotions!  I wasn't sad, and I certainly wasn't crying happy tears.  I think I was so.frickin.exhausted that I could not function anymore.  And I've already had thougts like "Next time I do a marathon, I'll do (such and such) differently" then I think about how awful it was & change my mind!

frances- I didn't know so few people have completed a marathon!  That makes me feel special, thanks for sharing :)
  • Bootcamp day 2 coming up this evening! Even though I can barely walk. There was lots of running, sooo many stairs, abs and planks. Ouch. We'll see what day 2 holds since each class is different.

  • Medic- I also remember feeling so gross and ugly from crying and being exhausted and my thighs chaffed and I was all swollen and red! It was a mess! I do remember it fondly now that the pain has faded, and am thinking another might be in my future!
