ahhh stupid weight gain

I went to the doc today for my sinuses (again but that's a different rant) and I've gained weight!! I don't know what it is! I've been watching what I eat, and working out, and I gain instead of lose...it's really starting to scare me now b/c I'm at the biggest I've ever been.  She drew blood to check my thyroid, but told me to take a fiber supplement too.  Does anyone else have a problem with this, or with their thyroid?

Yup. I have hypothyroidism. If I work out and count calories I gain about 2-3 pounds a week. If I don't count calories and exercise, I maintain. I am not able to lose... ever. I'm on meds and my thyroid levels are being monitored but it sucks big time. It's been about 9 months and it's not under control yet.

Good luck to you! I hope you find the answers you need!

Could you be gaining muscle and losing fat? Where do you go to the gym? I know that Gold's has those scales that measure body fat too. If your clothes aren't feeling tighter or anything, I bet that's what it is.

Stress can make you gain weight.  There is a scientific reason, something like it slows your metabolism down, but who knows.  As soon as I turned in my resignation from my awful job back in Oct, the pounds seriously started falling off without me doing much to aid it.  If your wedding is in less than 3 months, I am sure you have been stressed lately, so maybe (hopefully) its something as simple as that, and not a medical issue!  Good luck!

kelsey:  I thought of that, but how much weight its been, no way it's all turned to muscle that fast.  And I wish my clothes were still fitting....Beth: I know stress is having a lot to do with it, but she wanted to check the thyroid anyways.  I had it checked back in college because I was tired all of the time, and it came back normal. So she is also running another test.  I just hope they figure out what it is b/c I am tired of having a ton of tests ran and nothing found!
