Bridal Salon Reviews

For all the new brides here are some reviews of local Bridal Salons that I visited in the past two days:

Houston Bridal Gallery: They have some well known designers.  But I just didn't find any gowns that were unique.

Mia Couture: High end gowns and pretty good service.  Also, everything is white so it's really hard to really see the gowns.

Winnie Couture: Love, love, love this store! Bought my dress there, and got 25% off in a sale that goes through tomorrow.  Also, dress photos came out well because of the dark walls which provide a nice contrast the white dress.  Service was EXCELLENT!

Also, I only found a handful of gowns that had that WOW factor.  1 was at Mia Coture, and the other 4 were at Winnie.  1 dress at Houston Bridal had an amazing train, but the rest of the dress wasn't that great.

Figured I'd add my own review, if that's okay.  I went to a lot of places.  I'll comment more on the customer service than the dresses, as I was looking for something pretty traditional.

David's - not impressed at the service, but I didn't expect much.
Milan Bridal - good service and decent selection, but I've heard that they will do everything they can to rip you off and screw you over.  (I heard that from a person who used to be a consultant there.)
Houston Bridal Gallery - Loved them.  Tracey and another girl (Spencer?) are fabulous and supporting and not just out to get your money.  They were incredibly accommodating.  And gave us mimosas, which was a great touch.
Brickhouse Bridal - Consultant was fabulous, and there were tons of dresses.  I definitely got that whole "we'll give you 10% off if you buy by tomorrow morning" but since it was my second time out, I wasn't ready and that pressure really upset me.
Ventura's - Good selection, decent service, but again, I didn't have high expectations of them.
Bridal Depot - I was getting desperate so I went here regardless of the building it's in.  Consultant was nice, but selection is definitely dated and the store is kinda falling apart.  Not recommended unless you are desperate.
Weddings by Debbie - The fanciness of the store made me afraid they'd be very pretentious, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the consultant Kate Semmelrogge.  I highly recommend her - she's very honest about anything and everything.  She was amazing.  But Jennifer in bridesmaids is terrible - we didn't like her and she definitely tried to screw us over.  But overall I am happy with Weddings by Debbie.  After I decided which dress I wanted, I called all over to get quotes (since pretty much any place can order it for you), but when I called Kate, she managed to match the discount from Ventura's AND waived the shipping charge.  Their selection was huge but a lot were over my price range, but Kate successfully steered me clear of those.

When it comes to the experience you'll have in salons, I think, it really all depends more on the consultant you get than on the salon itself!

I agree with FutureMrsRoss David's Bridal did not have good service, but that's to be expected with a chain store I guess.  They did have nice dresses there.

I'm on a tight budget and a friend told me about Marry Go Round in Houston.  They sell dresses from boutiques that have gone out of business and samples from trunk shows.  Their dresses are nicely priced.  You have to be willing to dig!  The girls there are super helpful (and sweet too they got giddy along with my shopping buddies when I found "THE One").  Look over the dresses closely because some do have flaws (make up on the inside, beads coming off the hem).  I found my dress there and it fits perfectly!  No alterations needed.  I just have to have bustles put on.
