Flower girl not allowed to throw flowers, help pls

Hello knotties! I found out that at my church there is no throwing of flowers allowed. I am so bummed because I already have a flower girl? Any ideas on what I can have her do? Just walk in with a flower basket? Have her carry a "here comes the bride" banner?

  • I've never seen petal-tossing go well.   Maybe your florist can make her a pomander to carry?   I like the idea of a "Here Comes the Bride" banner.

  • Our flower girl carried a pomander. I think mini-bouquets, flower baskets and wands are sweet. In the end, little girls are just happy to be dressed up and participating like the "big girls." I honestly think a Here Comes the Bride banner would be cuter outside than in a church.

  • I've heard of them carrying bells, but I do like the idea of carrying the flowers down the aisle to the women in your lives.

Would your location allow her to set pretty strips of ribbon down? Or fake petals?

  • You could have her wave a ribbon wand or the suggestions made by PPs are good as well.

  • Growing up I was a flower girl in a lot of my parents friends weddings, and I actually don't remember tossing petals in any of them (probably because the churches didn't allow it either).  Instead I carried small baskets of flowers.  I think that might have been better in the long run, since I think if I had had to actually do anything other than hold the basket and walk I would have gotten shy and run to my mom. (lol, I've seen that happen).

  • Thank you all for the ideas. I love the idea of the roses being given to our grandmothers. I just hope my grandma shows up, lol.
  • Mine are carrying kissing balls, not throwing flowers

  • I remember being a flower girl for my sister when I was younger and I had a basket of long stem roses and handed them to random guests in the end seats as I walked down the aisle.

a friend of mine had  two.. one carried a llittle sign that said HERE COMES THE BRIDE and the other one rang a little bell and said  "here she comes!  here she comes!!        it was precious
  • A mini-bouquet, a basket of flowers, or a bell to ring.  My DD was a bellringer in a wedding last year.  She came down the aisle ringing the bell & saying, "The bride is coming! The bride is coming!" She sat near the front with family after her part.
