Fat Head

DH and I just got done watching a movie called "Fat Head" its a response documentary to "Super Size Me".  A guy eats only fast food for a month and loses weight.  There is a ton of science and weight theory in it too.  I thought it was really interesting.  Has anyone else seen it?

Re: Fat Head

  • I have never seen that, but I saw supersize me and those docs aggravate me because they are so exaggerated.  Its not rocket science to know that if you get a supersized fast food meal everyday you are going to gain weight.

But there are also healthy choices on those menus and if you get those, you can lose weight.

  • Hmm I have not seen it but I saw a website where a guy did exactly this a few years ago. I wonder if it's the same guy.

Supersize Me pissed me off as well.

  • I don't think there's a whole lot 'science' behind it beyond the concept of calories.

Take in less total calories then you burn in a day and you will lose weight, even if all you eat is crap.

Eat just two twinkies a day and you will loose weight drastically. Of course eventually you will be extremely sick once all the nutritional deprivation sets in, not to mention the ravaging effects of many vitamin and mineral deficiencies. But, you will be thin.

</div><div>I have seen Fat Head and I thought it was awesome. The whole point of it is that the kind of calories matter though. He wasn't just eating 500 calories a day of fast food, he ate three full meals everyday.

  • Right, the types of calories matter... and most fats (not trans fats) are good calories according to the movie.  The guy loses 12 pounds, but according to calories in vs calories out he should have only lost 7.

I'm glad someone else has seen it and enjoyed it. The last 15 minutes may be the best where he goes on a high-fat almost no carb diet (broccoli in butter, fried cheese, and steaks galore) to further prove his point.  I also love the major assumption he makes at the beginning of the move that Supersize Me didn't: "I have a brain."  Ha!
