  • I have not been there- but I went to one of their sister properties in Mexico and it was awesome! I'm pretty sure this resort was featured in a few episodes on last season's RHWONJ.

We went to Punt a Cana in March 2011.  It was very nice, beaches were nice.  Food is ok for the first 4-5 days then you're just wishing you had normal food after that.  You do get haggled a LOT on the beach, even when lying on the beach.  Say no, be firm, pretend you're asleep.  Get up 6 AM, throw your towel over your palapa on the beach, come back, grab breakfast then go back down.  Trust me.  People do that then you have nowhere to lie.  Always meet with whatever company you're going with.  We went with Transat Holidays for example, any activity we did were booked through them who are legitimate.

Oh!  Pack super light...take about 5 bikinis, 1 pair of flip flops, 1 pair of sneakers (if you are doing hiking, no jungle hiking?  forget them), 1 pair of black dress shoes, about 2 cocktail dresses, beach wraps maybe 1-2, 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of capris, maybe a few tank tops.  Don't bother with your straightener...your hair will friz.  And remember, your clothes never fully dry out.  If your luggage weighs 45 lbs when you go down, be rest assured it will weigh over 50 upon your return.

I don't know where you stayed, but we never had a problem getting a chair at the beach at the HR.... Around some pools yes we did have issues, but there were so many pools if we couldn't find a place at one, we just went to a different one but then again we aren't really pool people so we could really have cared less..  And the food there, I never got sick of it.  They had quite a variety.
