What are you doing with your dress after the wedding?

Just curious :)  Not sure if I will preserve mine (to look at and sigh), save it for later use (assuming I have a daughter or something), or sell it (because pictures are enough of a reminder of the dress, and I want some money)!

What are you all doing/what did the married ladies do?

    I'm thinking about getting mine shortened and dyeing it, since it's pretty simple and not poufy. Though since it isn't poufy, I might just get it cleaned and put it on a shelf since it won't take up much room. I can't decide.

    Hmm...I haven't really thought about it yet.  Except I'm not going to do a "trash the trash" photo shoot.  Just not me. I'll probably save it.  I love it too much to sell it lol.

    I also love mine too much to sell it...I'll probably keep it for the future somehow. My brother's GF is a seamstress (worked in theatre making costumes), and recently made a christening gown from the mother's wedding dress. It was beautiful and a great way to keep in the family without hoping someone would want to wear the dress down the road for their wedding.

    right now I love mine too much to sell it. I'll prob save it until i have kids and if no daughters I dunno. :)

    I'll probably stick it in a box and forget about it unless I have a daughter.  I won't have the heart to sell it or destroy it, but I'm sure I won't want to look at it daily.

    I put mine in a vacuum seal bag and put it in the basement.  I’ve heard of people making their children’s christening gowns out of the dress.  I thought that might be cute, but we’ll see!

    I will probably preserve mine.  I would love to give it to my daughter some day.  I have heard you shouldn't vacuum seal them though...mold spores can grow in them, causing a lot of damage.  Is this correct?

    I totally plan on doing a trash the dress photo session. Not in hopes of actually trashing the dress but I want to do some fun photos. The dresses are constructed in a way that I don't think I could have them altered into anything else - which would really be my first choice. I wouldn't save them in hopes of a future daughter wearing them. I don't see it happening. I may try to sell one (or both of them.)

    I am going to do a Last Look/Rock the Dress session in the fall.

    And then I want to donate my dress to Brides against Breast Cancer.  Several of the brides on my June board are doing this as well.

    Hmmm - I love mine. I cannot imagine giving it up.  You know if my mom would have kept hers I would have worn it in a heartbeat. - as much as I know styles change - I would love it if my daughter made something with it for her wedding.

    I am preserving mine...and yes, you should not vacuum seal it.  I am actually having mine cleaned now (sample) and preserved with Wedding Gown Care Specialists in the box that I will preserve it it after the wedding.  I wished that my mom still had her dress so that I could have at least tried it on or made something with it, she said that it is long gone.  I did find an old broach in my late grandma's jewelry box that I hope to attach to a silk flower in my hair.

    I do not plan on preserving mine nor trashing it (too pretty). I really want to do this (http://www.tcdailyplanet.net/news/2010/04/14/st-paul-woman-organizes-brides-march-against-domestic-violence-honor-her-mother) if it gets done again next year. After that I may chop it up, maybe dye it up so I can wear it again some how. Maybe use the cut off stuff for something creative too, put a swatch in the wedding album. Not really sure.

    Trash the Dress shoot in the Fall, and then make baptismal gowns for future kiddos.

    I am in LOVE with my dress so I am not sure I could do a Trash the Dress and I def wont sell it as it was was under budget. I am sure I will keep it and would love to make it into a christening gown for my kids but who knows. Maybe I will just pull it out every once and a while and dance around in it :).
