I work for a smaller company (there are 10 of us). One of our salesmen is retiring so we are throwing him a party and expecting about 60 people. The party will be at a museum (one that has to do with our field of work). Our elderly owners are insisting that they will take care of food and booze for the party (I have always taken care of all events in the past). The party starts at 5:30 and is located in a major city and has very little parking.
Now for the vent:
1.) They are insisting on only serving seafood. I have tried to explain to them that not everyone likes or can eat seafood. They have to think of their guests and not just want they want to eat. They actually got angry at my boss and I for suggesting that we have something other than seafood.
For the 60 guests they think clam chowder and two platters of lobster rolls is enough?!
2.) They think one case of red wine and one case of white (6 bottles each) is enough for everyone and that they do not need to provide anything else to drink.
I have already asked my boss (the owners are her parents) if I could just order more food from the caterer or just bring a salad and some platters with roll ups or sandwiches or SOMETHING. She said her dad would be pissed.
I will definitely bring the drinks but should I bring more food?
