what should we register for when my Fi and I already have our house/ apartment stuff....HELP please!

My Fi and I have been living together for the past 2 years and we already have everything we pretty much need for a house. We are having 2 weddings one local and a destination one and we have NO idea what to register for? We would really like money, but of course we can't ask for it. any ideas what we can register for???

  • Two things. First, you have ONE wedding. One wedding per groom. The other one's just a party and should not involve the same things (dress, wedding party, bouquet, etc.)

Second, to answer your question, you could create a small registry of items you wish to upgrade or get more of (appliances, towels, sheets, etc.) Most guests who do not purchase off of the registry will give you money without being prompted, which it would be rude of you to do.

  • Bree made up a great list at the top of the forum of certain things you can register for.  I would do upgrades (high thread count sheets, new towels, better cookware, glassware, etc).

  • See the list at the top of the page. Upgrade items, or registry for things like fine china that you might not have. People will get the hint that you have most of what you need.
  • If you don't want to upgrade any items, or you'd really just prefer money (which you can't ask for), just simply don't register. Some people may buy you an item anyways, but you can either just keep it and use it or exchange for a different item or store credit or something.

  • How about some nice picture frames for those beautiful wedding pictures you'll want to display in your home? Or maybe some other keepsakes.

  • Upgrade your current items (better towels, bedding, small appliances, etc.). You can donate your old items and get a tax deduction or sell them at a yard sale or online for extra $.  Some people will give you cash and some people will buy you a gift, regardless of if you register or not. You may as well put some items you like on a registry so people can buy you something you will like and use.
  • When we get married, we will have lived together for two years. We are registering for newer upgrades on things. For example, our wine glasses are the cheapo ones we got quickly at WalMart one night when we wanted to drink wine and realized we had none. Unless you already have top of the line everything, you can always register for upgrades; just make sure you still have a variety of price points. And you're right, you can't ask for money, but tell your parents and WP that you wouldn't mind getting that as a gift, since many guests will ask them about registry info and they might be able to politely suggest that.

How do you know this person is having only 1 wedding, when she said she was having 2?  Don't you believe her?  Odd.....

Hi, my Fi and I had the same dilimena. How we solved it was by looking around at what we had and realizing that there were some things that needed replacing. Example: Begian Waffle iron that was getting a little well-used, dish towels, bath towels in our new master bedroom color scheme.

Then we realized that there were some things we wanted but hadn't bougth for ourselves like a nice set of everyday dishes in white (both of our sets were getting long in the tooth), a pannini maker, and less-expensive basics like new bakeware.

Williams-Sonoma did the trick for us and we decided to register only there because they matched our style, the quality we normally buy for ourselves and  there was both in-store and online options for people to choose from.

Good luck and enjoy getting some new things!
