reviews, the bad (Comfort Inn, Nanuet)

We had a room block and RD at the Comfort Inn in Nanuet.  It was a complete embarrassment and a debacle.  I would never recommend this place to anyone.  We had several issues with this vendor, some more serious than others.  From the beginning there was drama and DH and I considered switching sites the week before but did not want to lose our $500 deposit.  The early, minor annoyances were that CI lost our deposit check, and I received 2 alarming phone calls (months apart) that I had a problem b/c I booked the RD the same day of my wedding.  I checked the contract; not true. I was also annoyed b/c I had to rent a suite for 2 nights to guarantee a place for hair and makeup for my Mom- they could not guarantee an early check in or a late check out so from 11 to 3, I would’ve been SOL. In all fairness, they gave me a discount on 1 of the nights, but we provided them with a lot of business- over 20 rooms and some stayed 2 nights.  Plus, we had a large RD booked there. You would figure that they could have rented us a hospitality room for a couple of hours instead of having to pay for 48 hours to guarantee a place for hair/makeup from 12 to 2.  I mentioned before that we had to change the room the week before b/c CI booked a “loud band” next door to our dinner.  Fine.  I could deal.  The week before we listened to a band there to make sure we needed to switch and went line by line through the contract.  For $50pp, we would receive 2 hours unlimited wine and beer, antipasto, salad, dinner and dessert.  They also agreed to put out centerpieces and set up a gift table. This is what went wrong:  When we got there, the linens were the wrong color.  Not a big deal, but it would have been nice to have what we picked out.  We spoke to the woman running our event.  She argued with us, but then had to concede when she saw what we ordered in print.  She blamed in on “them” not checking boxes.  Damn that ubiquitous “them” messing things up all the time.  No gift table was set up.  They did get it together before our guests arrived, but when we got there, 13 of the 19 bridal party/parent gifts were missing.  I found them in a box in a corner of the room and set them up myself.   There were no centerpieces. None.   The antipasto was never brought out and neither was the alcohol.  After 40 minutes of asking, CI agreed to bring some out: a few beers and 2 bottles of wine. DH had to go at it with them again, so we only had alcohol for half of the event.  CI insisted it was not part of our deal, but again, I had the paperwork at home. The worst part was that the woman running our event was so nasty with us- IN FRONT OF OUR GUESTS.  DH had to insist that she leave the room with us to discuss our concerns.  How embarrassing to be yelled at  and have someone pointing a finger at your face during your RD! We had family travel from Minnesota, Texas, Florida and Syracuse and they all had to witness this. The food that they did put out was horrible; my family went out for dinner on their own afterwards.  At the end of the night, we tracked down the hotel manager, who did apologize, and in the end they credited some money back to us.  But, we still have this horrible memory for our RD and even if I paid $5pp it would have been too much.    Fortunately, our wedding was perfect the next day.  I really had wanted to report back to all of you knotties only positive experiences, but if this is the worst of it, it’s really not that bad. At the end of the day, I married the love of my life and got to spend time with family and friends I don’t get to see often. Oh, and I got to wear a killer dress J  Sorry for the length, ladies.  Thanks for listening to this rant.

If you booked 20 rooms why wasn't your suite free? Ours was. Sorry you had troubles with the catering aspect, but from a hotel block standpoint I had zero issues with them and highly recommend them for that.

Our bridal suite was free, but we couldn't check in until 3 so I couldn't offer it to my Mom for hair/makeup.  (The room was needed for my Mom to get ready in.  She has some problems so it was better for her to get her hair/makeup done separately).

Sorry you had a bad experience with them.  We had a very good experience with them.  Same as Kristin, I believe our room was free.  We chose to book the suite for 2 nights because I got ready there so I paid for the first night.  They also kept the bar open late for us and we had a private brunch the next day and everything was very smooth with both of those items as well.  I'm glad the rest of your weekend was good though!

Lol, same for us. We were getting ready at 9am, so it was a lot easier to have the suite the night before.

ugh what a mess, how awful that they yelled at you and DH and tried to not give you things that were clearly state in your contract.  Thank god your wedding day was perfect!

So sorry that you had to deal with all of that. Hope that the memory of your beautiful wedding day is what you long remember and this hotel incident (s) gets forgotten as time goes on. Just don't book there to celebrate your year anniversary!
