Two separate celebrations instead of one?

We started to make a list of people we wanted to thank for coming to our wedding (22 people) and additional people who were not even invited to Vegas but sent us a gift (18 people) plus another 10 family members.  The thought of hosting a party for 40+ people put me into a panic.  DH suggested renting a hall.  I'm DONE with planning and I already had the wedding and reception of my dreams.  I'm not into now planning a bigger party than what it was.  This party is going to be at the end of the summer after we have put in our deck.  Most people gave us cash or gift cards towards our deck.  This way they get to see what we did as a thank you :)

I just wanted to have a BBQ at our new house.  However, I can't host that many people.  So I suggested having 2 different parties.  Have just our families over one weekend and then our friends/co-workers on a different weekend.  It would keep each party under 25 people.  Is this crazy?
