Akron area photographers?

I'm in desperate need of a good decent priced photographer, my fiance's father is a former photographer and is not making our decision any easier

Check out Tami Musick Photography. Basically, it runs in her blood (her dad and his siblings are also photographers). She has done 2 family sessions for me as well as one boudoir session and all of the photos came out great. Her prices are very reasonable, too. I know that for weddings and other events like that, she's very willing and able to customize her packages. She even gives you a CD of pics which is pretty rare these days. Here's her blog:

She's based in Streetsboro (just east of Akron) but will travel.

My wedding photographer is Lindsey Beckwith. www.lindseybeckwith.com She is based out of Cleveland, but I don't believe she would have a problem traveling to Akron. She was also very willingly to customize packages to our budget and needs.

I would not be afraid to look at photographers who are based out of Cleveland, many are willing to travel to Akron.

Also, I disagree with JKOhio's comment about it being rare for photographers to provide clients with CDs of the images. Most photographers are very willing to provide customers with CDs of images and printing rights. This is usually included as part of a package, but if not, ask your photographer how you can arrange to buy the CD with picture files.

BEFORE YOU GO WITH KEN LOVE, please read.  I liked his work, but when I tried to hire him, he SCREWED me over.  I booked with him, sent him my deposit only to find out weeks later that I was pregnant and due about our wedding time.  So, we pushed the wedding back 1 year and when I started to replan it, Ken would not transfer my deposit to the new date.  I had pretty much paid him for no reason.  It IS in his contract that for a cancellation, you forfeit your deposit, but I expected better customer service seeing the situation and that I wanted to stay with him for my rescheduled date.  His excuse, I had you booked and there had been 5 other brides that called for that date.  Really??!!  In a matter of weeks, really?!!!  Because of this poor customer service (and other reasons I probably shouldn't say), I decided to go elsewhere for a photographer.

Also wanted to point out that ALL of my other vendors, switched my date with no problems about the deposit.

What do you consider decent priced (what price range)? I agree w/ PP that you can basically check with photographers anywhere in NE ohio and the majority are willing to travel to Akron no problem.   I also really think that  having a family member play the roll of ANY sort of vendor for your wedding is not a good idea – it never ends well. Not sure if that is what you meant RE: FFIL but just thought I would add that!

DLHang - You signed a contract.  I don't think he screwed you over.  I'm sure it was super frustrating but that's what the contract/deposit is all about.

OP - I really enjoy the work of Corey Ann that I've seen.  A lot of knotties have used her and raved.  We didn't use her, but if your FFIL is super picky I think he'd be happy with her work.

We did use Michelle Brown Photography and we were happy with how everything turned out.

We are using Chistopher Bues Photography. I agree with pp, what you consider reasonable may be different than someone else. I liked that Chris does not mark up any of his photos and albums are purchased seperately.

We are using Drobny Studios - very reasonably priced and was good to work with for our engagement photos. He's more a traditional photo style than journalistic.

I recommend Babulski Productions.  Steve is great and very professional.  His rates are reasonable and turnaround time is so quick, a friend of mine used him in January and had her photos by the end of the month!
