Plus-Sized

Bridesmaid Stressed

Hi ladies, I was wondering if you could provide me with some advice.  My sister is plus size (24-26) and my MOH.  All of my other bridesmaids are in different parts of the country so my sister is the one who is going dress shopping for bridesmaid dresses this weekend.  The stores are now telling me that no dresses will fit her.  How the heck are we supposed to pick something out she will like (she never wears dresses...always jeans) when we can't try anything on?

Re: Bridesmaid Stressed

  • David's Bridal, if they have any in your area, had plenty of plus size dresses.  Steer Clear of the satin - it looks horrible.  But they have a lot of A-Line dresses that looked really nice on me (a plus-size) and my plus-size MOH.  Good luck!

Thank you.  I looked at Davids Bridal and they don't really have many dresses in the color I'm looking for.  Frustrating because their dresses are probably the most reasonable price-point wise.

What color are you looking for?  DB has 44 colors, I think.  Mori Lee and Alfred Angelo both make and have plus size bridesmaids dresses.

Sorry for the late response...couldn't log on yesterday.  I was looking for a really dark, dark blue (not really marine).  DB has a great dark blue color but only like 5 dresses in that color.  I think we will go with Jenny Yoo...those seem pretty flattering.  We did try Alfred Angelo too, however, and those were nice.
  • You might also try Dessy dresses.   "Midnight" might be a good color choice for you and I think they have a lot of styles in their color selections.

    Good luck!
  • have you actually looked at the marine dresses in a physical davids bridal store?

(i think we are the same people, i'm looking for dark navy dresses and also have plus sized bridesmaid actually trying on dresses issues)

Anyway the marine in store looks MUCH different than how it shows up online. at least on my screen. It might be worth a quick trip to look.
