About my budget

Ok. So for my FI and I, its our 2nd time around, so we really don't want to spend a lot on this wedding. Originally it was going to really just be us, my son, our parents and that's it (which would allow for 1 really kickass european honeymoon). But when I thought about the idea of not celebrating with close friends and family, I really started to regret the decision for such a small event.

So we decided to do a $5K honeymoon and $3K wedding for $8K total. Basically like no venue here will allow us to do a $3K wedding so we thought about doing it at home outside. Then we starting talking about the must-do house stuff that would need to be finished prior to the wedding.Eeek.

So I got an email back from a venue Thursday with a really reasonable quote so we're checking it out Monday. After running the numbers, it would push my wedding budget up to $5K. We re-worked our budget and savings goals, and I think we'll definitely be able to make it happen, giving us a wedding we'll be happy we did plus a beautiful honeymoon. It won't be europe, but we're thinking California.

Did you ladies have these kinds of budget concerns? What kind of budgets do you have in place for your big day?

Re: About my budget

  • So far it's looking to be about $8k for us, not including potential honeymoon or stay-cation. We won't be able to afford much for a honeymoon, so that won't be anything big.

At the end of the day, you've gotta do what's right for you guys and maybe not necessarily what will satisfy your friends and family. A lot of people don't understand how much time and money goes into a wedding unless they've planned one.

  • We have been engaged for almost 3 years we have been saving for quite some time now and we are still stressed about our budget... As of now its looking like we are coming under and we arent 100% sure if we are taking a honeymoon right away or just doing a nice staycation like PP stated. If yall can figure the numbers and make everything else fall in place I say go it for it...

  • Since this is my second time around there is one thing that I will not compromise on is my honeymoon. I was like some of you, thinking "oh we'll just do a small stay-cation or we'll go on our honeymoon later" and it never happened. I don't want that to happen again and its the 1 thing I truly regret from my first time around.

We re-worked our budget and savings over the next 9 months and We'll have plenty of savings allowing us $5K for a wedding and $5K for our honeymoon. Its still early, but Im confident we'll do ok.

</div><div>My grandmother (maternal side) never got an engagement ring.  It was always one of those "it's going to happen later" things, that never ended up happening.  When my parents got married, they didn't have a lot of money.  They thought about not getting a ring right away and waiting, but then my mom realized that her mom never ended up getting that ring.  Guess what, they got a ring right away!

Our budget is 1215k but my fiance would love it if it were less. This coming from a man who wants two wedding bands due to the type of work he does. It is still stressful trying to stay in this budget. I just got the first quote from one florist and it's over 4k. I chose centerpieces with candles cause they were the cheapest. Crazy right might b doing those myself
