Alterations

Anyone have any recommendations? I bought my dress at DB but the general consensus is that they are overpriced for alterations.

My dress is going to be a bit complicated for the bustle, which makes me more than a little nervous.

Anyone heard anything about the Lady Who Makes Dresses or Satin Stitches?

I think I'm going to use Satin Stitches.  Smithville's a little bit of a drive, but I've seen them recommended several times and I haven't found any negative comments about her work.  Plus, she's really, really affordable!

I'm not sure what area you're in, but there is a place on Shawnee-Mission Parkway and Quivera that's great.  I had a bridesmaid dress altered a couple years ago and this place was recommended by a co-worker who had her wedding gown done there.  Anyway, it's just to the West of Ace Hardware in a strip mall (can't remember the name of it!.  The owner is this cute little Asain lady and is super sweet!

I have also heard Mia at Mia's Bridal in Olathe does a great job.  That's where my dress is from, so that's where I'll be going!

    Good luck! =)

I've had several friends use the place on Shawnee Mission Parkway and they were very pleased with the work and the price.

I'd recommend Ida's or Satin Stitches. However, to be fair, the only reason I recommend SS is because I've seen many other postivie posts about them. :-)

What is the place on Shawnee Mission Parkway called?  My bridesmaids need a place to get their dresses altered and I'm looking for suggestions for them!

    Any ideas?

I would recommend Satin Stitches as well. She is very reasonable and does awesome work. Plus, she is willing to try many things with your dress and lets you decide exactly what you want. She is currently adding the bustle to my dress and it is only costing $20.
