Jeweler suggestion for cleaning/polishing platinum?

Hi Ladies, FI got my ring in England, which isn't exactly practical for taking in to get cleaned and/or polished (it's platinum).  Does anyone have a suggestion for a local jeweler (in or as near to Seattle as possible) that won't charge me an arm and a leg to clean and polish outside jewelry?

I'm kindof in your same situation, but when I got my ring appraised by a gem lab, they recommended dishwashing liquid (Dawn), lukewarm water and a soft toothbrush. My ring is platinum, too.

I'm not so concerned with the cleaning part, but I know that I'll want to get it polished at least before the wedding and possibly sooner and that has to be done by a professional.  Thanks for the Dawn suggestion though, saves me buying jewelry cleaner :)

We go to Bender's Jewelers in Bellevue for all of our jewelry stuff. He has done repairs on some antique pieces as well as cleaning/polishing. It is just a small family shop, but he is very well priced and trustworthy.

Huh...I've never had my ring "polished," only cleaned. After it's cleaned it's always really shiny. What's the difference?

Because it's so pure (and therefore soft) platinum scratches easily, but it doesn't scratch off the metal, like with gold, so you can get it polished which will redeposit the metal back where it was and get rid of the scratches.
