Did anyone postpone their honeymoon?

Wedding date is 9/17.  We were gifted a week at my mom's time share that we can use at any of the available resorts...  We found the one we want to go to, but the only one available right after our wedding only has a double bed!

Would it be silly to wait a week or two to go when there is more availability?  We're already in kind of a bind because all of the places we considered are in high hurricane season in September.  :(

I don't think it's silly at all.  We only waited 3-4 days before leaving on ours and I wish we would have waited a few more days just because we had so much to take care of after the wedding.

We won't take our honeymoon until a month after the wedding.  We're doing that so Chris can finish his finals/semester at school.  I don't think it's silly at all to wait a couple weeks to have more availability and get what you really want!

I had to kind of laugh, because FI and I sleep in a double bed every night. But, we will probably not be going on our honeymoon right after the wedding due to logistics. At this point, we don't know when we'll be able to go. So, I think you should do what you need to do to have the trip that you want.

Thanks for all the input!  I feel better.  :)  The thought of chilling at home for a bit before going on a trip actually sounds pretty nice to me.  ;)

RE: the double bed -- we are both extremely restless sleepers and struggle to sleep in a queen.  Right now we have a California King so a double would be really a hard adjustment!  ;)

definitely wait and have the vacation you want. We are leaving tomorrow and I am so grateful to have these two days to get things done. Honestly, a few weeks would be great. You can get all of your wedding gifts and new stuff put away, thank you cards out, etc.  It's so overwhelming and you want to soak it all up. Plus if you have some out of town guests, you can spend some time with them after (my parents are still here and that is awesome with all of the packing up).  Just don't skip the honeymoon! :)

We are also waiting.  The wedding is the last weekend before lent (our church doesn't do weddings during lent so we'd have to wait until after easter) and we are going on the HM during spring break (FI works at an elementary school).

Just yesterday, I was thinking about how glad I am that we're waiting a week...otherwise I know I would forget tons of stuff during packing!

I think a week would be fine, but any more than that and it sort of seems silly unless you have a real serious reason. We aren't leaving until Monday, but I am really looking forward to getting away from all the family/moving madness for a week right after the wedding.

Then again, we have never lived together before, so we really want that "us" time, too.

Do what you are happy with!

Thanks for all the input!  Patience paid off and instead of going to our original destination, a Hawaii timeshare opened up and I snagged it. YAY!  It is for a week after our wedding date, which I'm totally fine with.
