Vest and Tie Prom-y?

So I posted my question on another board (Attire) and they gave some suggestions I will take into consideration. 

However, I was wondering what my AAW ladies think about cobalt blue vest and ties appearing prom-like.  FI has selected for his men to wear cobalt blue vests and ties with him wearing silver. They are wearing black suits, white tops, black shoes. I really don't want them to wear vests, but its what FI wants.  I would like them just to wear blue ties, esp since our wedding is July 5th.

Thoughts?

    Girl at least ur fiances made suggestions..and our weddings a month before yours! I've seen both and they look nice and appropriate for a wedding,however if you're going by weather then no vests necessary..

    We're doing vests and bowties. It's not prommy to me. I think it's cute! The guys look SHARP. The GM are wearing black tuxes, apple vests and bowties and FI is wearing black tux pants and an ivory tux jacket with a apple vest and bowtie. I'm not supposed to know that, though. FI thinks its a secret, but I find out everything. Lol. I love it
