wedding invitation and cost for professional printing

I'm trying to get up the courage to do my own pocketfold invitations. For those of you who didn't design your invitations from scratch, where did you get the template that you chose?

Also, what is a ballpark figure for having 150 invitations & RSVP & direction cards printed? If I'm buying the pocketfolds, invitation mats, blank invitations, etc. already pre-cut and having the invitations and inserts professionally printed, am I actually saving any money?

Depending on where you get them from, they may have some wording templates you can use.You can also google "invitation wording"--it will give you a ton of results. A lot of girls here have designed them on their own using Microsoft Publisher or Adobe.

I think whether or not you save money, depends on what you are looking for. When I priced out Cards and Pockets, I was going to do my own printing and it ended up being cheaper then any other invitation site I was looking at. I am not sure what the cost is to have them custom printed.

I hired a graphic designer to to come up with the design and I gave her all the wording. I will do all the printing myself and I am ordering all the stuff for the pocketfolds from paperandmore.com. It came out cheaper from there then from cardsandpockets

Hcer- can I ask, who did you hire? I was thinking of hiring someone but I don't know where to start for that. My uncle owns a printing press so all I have to do is send him the template and he will print the rest. Thanks in advance

I'm debating doing part DIY and part professionally done. I fell in love with an invitation from WeddingPaperDivas and yesterday I went to paper presentation on 18th street in NYC to look at their pockets and other accessories. The staff there was really helpful and it was nice to be able to walk around with my invite  sample and try it out with all the different products they had. I was able to buy samples of everything so that I could bring it home and show my fiance, now I need to figure out the total cost to see if its worth it.

Oh dear, I'm on wedding invitation overload. I thought I had a nice classic design for our shore wedding picked out from printable press http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_NNyfEMAcdp4/SeT8OtF6nSI/AAAAAAAACig/bAoIBTzhoeQ/s1600-h/seafan.jpg, but then I looked on etsy. So many choices!

    To: ahhndrea

Gilt City is having a sale on Wedding Paper Divas Invitations (40-50% off). I decided to pre-purchase this deal & made my fiance purchase it also, so we could get our 100 invitations. If you use my link, below, I will get a credit to my account if you join and purchase:  http://www.giltcity.com/invite/jinylee
I hopes this helps you decide.

Thanks for the ideas, ladies. Ahhndrea, that's a great idea to go to a brick & mortar show with my invitation sample to match the envelope and pocketfold colors.
