Madison Hair Salons

Hey all,

I am on the hunt for a hair salon in Madison. My normal salon is charging $70+ for an updo for my bridesmaids, which is more than they can afford and I would feel guilty asking them to spend that much.

Does anyone have any reccomendations for hair salons in Madison?  Has anyone used The Ultimate Salon or William Jon or others?

    Is there a certain side of town you want to stay on?

    I love the Ultimate but unfortunately they are really expensive for that kind of thing. Im not sure on the price (maybe on their website) but its probably around that same amount. Sorry I dont know exact prices for hair but when I get my nails done I know its very expensive

    Depending on how much you are looking to have the girls spend there are a lot of schools in the area you might want to call. When I was a BM a few summers ago we went to the Regency which is by Best Buy on the East side...If I remember right it was 30$? But mine was more then some of the other girls in the party because I have very long hair. My hair looked really good! The only thing about them was that they lost the information on the style of updo we were supposed to get and the Bride was getting her make up done and couldnt come to point it out so we got started late. Other then that things went really well.

    A new school is that Aveda school at the new University square on campus. I heard they are pretty good and and its cheap! It looks nice in there when I have walked by but I have never gone in.

    MATC has a cosmetology school downtown thats pretty reasonable and the only other school that I can think of is Empire which is on Odana but I dont know pricing for them..but im sure they are reasonable.

    As for Salons, I go to Studio Z in Monona and I love it! My friend got her make up done there for her wedding and it looked amazing!

    I have also heard very good things about Cameo day spa, which is on the square...but im sure that place is expensive!

    Thanks for the suggestions!  I go to ANiU and it is very pricy...my personal hairdresser indicated she might be able to help me out, so we'll see how that goes!

    I am having the same problem. I  am not worried about how much my hair costs, I just don't want to have to ask the bridesmaids to pay $60-$80 for their hair! I think the bridesmaids would be fine with getting their hair done at one of the schools in the area, however... I don't want to get mine done there and really like the idea of us all being together that morning.

    I am leaning towards finding someone who can come to the hotel and do everyones hair.
