Too much for flowers???

I just got a quote from a florist near the Charlotte area and I am wondering if it is too much or about average. She gave me about a $2000 quote for my bride's bouquet, 6 bridesmaids bouquets, 10 boutonnieres, 8 corsages, and church decorations (flowers and greenery in windows, 5 candelabras with flowers and an arrangement for the registry table and cake table). I know that she is using orchids and desert roses and I am not sure what other flowers. Is this overpriced because I was kind of in sticker shock?!?! But I also do not know anything about flowers...any help is greatly appreciated!

We are paying about $1000 in Greensboro for 1 bride bouquet, 6 BM bouquets, 6 corsages, 9 boutinnieres, flowers fr the cake, and flowers to go in the centerpieces we are making ourselves, and her labor for cutting/stripping/inserting into watertubes the flowers for the centerpieces.  That is using a few roses here and there, gerbr daisies, and other in season flowers like daisy mums, so not as expensive as orchids and desert roses.

I would assume that if we added elaborate arrangements, the price would probably double, so $2,000.00 kind of sounds right based on the quotes I got.  She said making a small bouquet would be min. $25, and when we asked about altar arrangements she said min. $75 and probably more (so we skipped those).  Plus, I think prices in Charlotte/Raleigh are a bit inflated over things in Greensboro/W-S./other smaller areas.

There are lots of girls who hve posted about the florists they have used and loved in theCLT area, so hopefully some of them will have better info!

    I think that sounds reasonable.

I agree, it doesn't sound bad. Especially since you seem to have made specific flower requests.

I think it's about right, too.  I'm having 1 bride, 5BM, 9 boutonnieres, 1FG ball, 6 corsages, 20 centerpieces, and 1 church display for around $1300.  I would say that if I added more church decorations and cake/guestbook tables like you have, it would easily be around $2000.  My flowers are roses and sunflowers for the bouquets, and carnations for the centerpieces.

I'm using Deborah Bell Designs in Cornelius, in case you were looking to meet with another florist to compare.  I also met with Tammy at the Flower Boutique in Matthews and Lori at Party Blooms.  All three prices were pretty comparable.

    $2000  sounds about right.

I would get several estimates.  I went to over 5 florists.  Petal Shoppe of Monroe was the cheapest and i've heard rave reviews (she does about 90% of the flowers for weddings at the Omni hotel i've heard)

I'm around $900 for my bouquet, 4 BM bouquet, 9 bouts, 1 corsage, 4 small bouquets (instead of corsages), stems of hydrangea for aisle decor and 16 centerpieces. She is using orchids in half of my centerpieces but the rest of my flowers are most hydrangeas, sweetpeas, roses and ranunculus (we do have some stephanotis and fiddlehead ferns in there as well, so long as I don't change my mind between now and then).

I'm working with Party Blooms in Charlotte.  She was by far the most helpful and reasonable of the 4 florists I visited with.

Well from just the quotes that I have received from florists that sounds abt right to me as well, but I am on a really tight budget too as far as decorations b/c I wanted the most money to go to my reception and honeymoon. My budget for bouquets, bout., crosages, and etc. was $300 (ended up spending $150 b/c she gave me half off) but came across this flower wholesale shop in Charlotte, off South Blvd. and they make them as well for a low price too. I ended up purchasing the flowers from there (Golden State Silk Flowers- 7115 South Blvd
, 28273, (704) 553-1288) and gathered all the ladies in my wedding together one night and we made it a ladies night in (we all dressed in pj's and had margarita's, lol.) The flowers actually came out really well b/c the lady that owns the shop showed me how to make them before I left and gave me great tips. She has 40% to 50% off now on all her flowers and they are really nice flowers. If your looking to cut down on the price then this will be the place to go. My wedding is in 11days and pictures will be going up soon... Good Luck
