How to include registry info with invite?

Is there a tactful way to do this? While we were at the funeral luncheon someone told my FMIL they wanted to host a bridal shower.......meaning we need to register......so it got me thinking.

  • Are you talking about a shower invite or wedding invite?

If you're referring to the shower invite, it's fine for the host to mention on the invitation that you're registered and where.

If you mean the wedding invite, you shouldn't include any registry info at all.

  • I would put the registry info on your wedding website if you have one and include the web address on the enclosure card of your wedding invitation.

  • Sorry.........meant to say wedding invite. But I suppose either would apply.

  • Really ? All the wedding invites I have ever received the registry is on the formal invitation
  • I'd put registry info on your wedding website if you made one. You NEVER include registry info with an invitation, you only have registry info for a bridal shower invitation.

If someone is offering to throw you a shower and you're going to register, the registry info would be included on the invitation for that.

It's really tacky and completely against etiquette to include registry information on/with the wedding invitation.

Same here, I am enclosing a card with ours that has our wedding website on it which has our registry info, but I have seen it countless times on invites, I never found it tacky or rude.

  • I got a wedding invitation recently with the registry info on a printed little sheet of paper...not even a stationary quality insert. It was from a close friend and she'd basically thrown the wedding together within a couple of months and didn't have a website. I do find it tacky overall, but I know a lot of people do it anyway.

I'll be just putting info about our website in & putting it there. Letting key people know where you're registered is also just as good. Many guests will just ask your mom or MOH, etc, where you're registered.

  • Thanks for letting me know ;);)

  • You should never include registry information on the wedding invitation EVER.  Whether people have done it before or you've seen it done, does not make it proper etiquette.  Your registry info should only be included in the shower invitation and that's it.

  • We have a  website, registry is on there, our insert that has a map and other relvant info says to see our wedding website for more info.  No one is offended, the information is there for anyone who wants it as well as info on parking, hotels, what to wear, etc.
