long distance bridal shower

My fiance and I live in Guam, our families are in NJ. We are  planning our wedding back home. My family wants to throwus  an engagement party or a bridal shower, is this something that we can accomplish without either of us making the 24+ hour flight home? Or should we do without either of these showers?

    I don't see how you'd attend a party or shower without flying home. So if that's out of the question, I would politely decline their offers for parties.

    We had a baby shower in NH for my sister in AK. We kept it small. People had the gifts shipped there and the day of we skyped with her while she opened her gifts. We hosted food and everything in nh. We set the computer up so we were skyping on the TV. Not ideal but it was away for us to share that with her and we all had a blast.
