NWR: Interview Update

So I know I wasn't able to post on here yesterday about my interview for graduate school for clinical psychology but I did mention it on the facebook group. I was asked by a few people to give an update so here it is!

I feel really good about how the interview went yesterday and felt like the two faculty members who interviewed me were excited about what I had to say and what I had to offer. I also got a chance this morning to meet one on one with a few faculty members whose research I am interested in and I thought those meetings went well too. I am supposed to hear back as early as next week if I make the intital offers list. 19 of us interviewed and they have 6 spots available so I think I have a good chance of getting an offer.

Thanks so much for the good vibes that you ladies sent to me yesterday. I really appreciate it and they just may have been the edge I needed! You ladies are the best!

I will keep you updated about any offers or contact I get.

  • My actual interview was very short. About 15 minutes. But all day yesterday we had stuff going on. Orientation to the program, lunch and dinner with current grad students, and a social at one of the professors to chat and get to know each other better in a less formal way.
  • Clinical psych is so hard to get into!  I'm sorry I missed yesterday that you were interviewing, but that is awesome - are you going for PhD or starting with a Masters?  Good luck, I've got my fingers crossed for you!

I'm applying for a PhD program. And yes they are very hard to get into. So even though that was the only interview I got from the 10 schools I applied to, I'm very happy about it. And thank you for keeping your fingers crossed. I've got mine crossed too!
  • Your interview sounds like how my department does them (Chemistry PhD program). Its an all day event where every 1/2 hour you meet with a new professor and tell them about your research and hear about what their lab does + an hour and a half lunch with grad students. I love taking the prospective students to lunch (free lunch!!) but its sad because most of them don't get accepted (we only interview the "on the bubble" candidates, normally no interview is required for our program).

    Good luck!!
