AW: Licensed to Wed!!!

Well, it's official, we are finally licensed to wed!  We went down to the Guilford County courthouse this morning and applied for our marriage license.  It was a fairly easy process...so I'm so glad that went well!  FI was starting to panic because he thought it was going to be a long, drawn out process where we would have to wait for weeks to get our license, but it only took about 10 minutes at the most and we left the courthouse with our license in hand!!!  I was joking with FI that I had gained a husband but I had to lose my mace over it.  I always carry a little thing of mace/pepper spray with me because a friend of mine was attacked in the parking lot at work last year.  Well, I really don't even think much about the mace being in my purse, but I remembered it the second I seen the sign saying "no mace allowed" before we went in.  So, rather than trotting all the way back to the car, I just tossed it.  Things are all starting to seem so surreal now with the wedding coming so quickly!  I can't believe it is almost here....yaaayyy!

Woohoo!  I think we might get ours tomorrow.  Its a pain because FI works in Burlington, so for us to go he wll have to go into work pretty late or come home early.  I work 5 minutes walking distance from the courthouse so I can go whenever he can -- good to know it didn't take that long!  What time of the morning did you go?

Awesome.  It's such a good feeling to finally have that done, isn't it?  But I don't think it has really sunk in for me yet. We 10 days out and it definitely doesn't feel like it.  I'm sure it will set in once everyone gets down here.

We're doing this tomorrow.  It's our last "has to happen" before the wedding.  We've still got a few "it'd be good to have these" though.

Yay! So sad you had to say goodbye to your mace, but yay marriage license! I need to get a replacement social security card before we go get ours, since mine was in my wallet when it was stolen abroad (stupid, stupid me for carrying it with me that one time, argh.)

I'm glad to hear your process was smooth- I'm with your FI, I tend to expect the worst with red-tape and all that. :)

Beth, we went in there at 1pm, and it wasn't crowded at all...there were only about 3 people in there and they were all being helped.  We were greeted and helped immediately.  FYI--you can fill out the marriage license info online, and it will be even faster when you get there.  Let me know if you need the link to that.  That part was what took the longest, and we could have had that part out of the way before we even arrived if I had known beforehand!   HTH!!

Corinne...I don't know what it's like at all the courthouses, but in Guilford County, they only needed my SS# not the card...the lady initially asked for the card, but I told her that I had left it at home and she said that was fine if I knew the #.  You could try it, it's worth a shot.
