One World Theater

Has anyone used them or know anything about their pricing?  I love their pictures but when I email for more information all I get is a response to call them.  I work a lot and am really trying to narrow down venue choices by email.  TIA.

Don't quote me on this but we checked into this and FI was the one that talked to their coordinator. He was told that the pricing was an avg of $100/per plate. I didn't bother to call them back to confirm it.

I didn't look into this for my venue but I went to a wedding there 2 years ago and it was beautiful! Both the bride & groom are actors so it was really a perfect venue for them. I'm not sure about pricing but I can tell you it was beautiful and had good separation for ceremony, cocktail hour & dinner then dancing!

I actually worked for them for a while and one of the events that I worked was a wedding, it was gorgeous. They were one of the first places I emailed when I got engaged because I thought it was a great place to get married. Unfortunately way out of my price range.

This was the response to my email:

Thanks for your interest in One World for your Wedding. We were voted the best place in Austin to have a Wedding! Most of our events here fall in the price range of $100- $130/Person. Our package pricing does include the venue, food and bar, staff, tables, chairs, linens, dishware, glassware, silverware, A/V, and many more little details to make your wedding spectacular.

Oh if it's 100-130 a person and includes all of that you really should break it down - it might not be that bad. Once you add all those things to another venue - if you divide it out by how many people you're planning on having it might be comparable!

KNs is right--- because we have 80 people-- so that would be 8,000. But here is a break down of everything that we have so far..

    Venue-- 5000 for a Sat
    Food- 18 per person = 1440
    Plates, glassware = 1000
    Linens, napkins- 500

So just with that stuff we are looking at 8000 for our venue as well. I think someone just needs to tell them to market it a little better, and actually break the costs down, because it does sound like a lot at first.

We encountered the same thing at the Terrace Club in dripping springs - we were like $75 a person?! I dont think so, until they sat down and told us everything it included. Which also makes all the little details (like chairs & linens) SO much easier.

Thanks everyone.  I'm really interested in their pictures, I'm just a little cautious of spending to much time on a vendor that takes over a week to respond and doesn't answer any of the questions in the email.  Maybe I'll give them one more chance.

Not to dissuade you from selecting them if you love them...

BUT I was thinking about using them as One World was where we had our first date, and then I met the coordinator.  She was over 30min late for our meeting.  Granted, she was doing a final walk through with a bride whose wedding was the coming weekend.  However, the way I see it, if you can't time manage your appointments, how can you manage a whole wedding.  Not to mention, she was the slowest responding vendor I have ever encountered thus far in my planning process.  ;)

Wow, they changed their pricing. $16,000 and that doesn't even include beer or wine?? I think that's waaay overpriced for that venue.

Oh, and the price wouldn't be that bad if they didn't charge the venue and "production staff" fee- I'm guessing that's a wedding coordinator? And $18pp for linens and flatware is crazy. Ok I'm done. :)

I've decided against them.  They were to hard to get ahold of and I'm not sure what the "production fee" is but it seemed excessive.  I just posted this in case anyone else was looking.  Thanks for all your help.

FYI to anyone reading this after July 2010. As of late July / early August, they appear to have canned their original coordinator and hired a new one. or Valerie quit. Either way, the new coordinator is very nice - and punctual (to the person who waited half an hour: I'm totally with you. We waited for 15-20min for Valerie). I of course found this out when I tried to email Valerie and got an automated response saying she's no longer with One World. It was an awesome way to get notified. However, I'm stuck with them for better for worse (already put down the deposit months and months ago), so here's to hoping for the best.
