Opinions Please... Ok to wear the wedding dress?

My Husband and I had a JP wedding when I found myself pregnant with our first daughter right after we started planning our "big day".  I had already bought a beautiful ballgown style dress.  No one came to our JP wedding (and I never wore it) so no one has seen the dress and now it just hangs in my closet.   My question is this...  Is it ok to wear the dress for a vow renewal ceremony and reception/party on our 10th anniversary? This is still 5 years away , but I ask because if I decide not to wear it, then I want to either get it preserved for our daughters to possibly wear, or donate it so that it doesn't sit in my closet and go to waste or somehow get ruined.  I absolutely love the dress and I would hate to see it just sit in my closet for years and never get used.

Edited for spelling...

If you can still fit in it- why not?

I agree.  If it fits, wear it!  Then you can save it for your girls

For me, it would really depend on the style of the dress.  Even 10 years can make a once-fashionable dress look dated.   Also, i don't know about you, but many dresses that would have flattered me at my first wedding (at age 23) wouldn't look age-appropriate on me at age 31.   But there ARE many styles that are timeless and look good on brides of all ages.  So if it's still in style, and still fits/flatters you, then go for it.

Also, FYI, many dress donation sites won't take dresses that are more than about 5 years old because there isn't any demand for them.  Sometimes they will take vintage dresses as an exception.  I tried donating my 8-year-old dress, and couldn't find anyone who would take it....so it's still hanging in my closet.

Only wear it if you absolutely love it, not because you just don't want it to go to waste Smile
