Second lining through FQ

Good Morning!

I would appreciate any information on how the second line parade throught hte streets work. Are there police escorts? what about traffic..cars etc? how do they keep it safe? How late is too late to second line through the french quarters

I am looking into booking a brass band from BOT to FQ after the reception party which will probably end at 12am.

Thanks dolls!

Yeah the Second Lines I've been to usually will give you one or two police officers on mopeds to help with crossing streets.  Incidentally, New Orleanians are completely used to impromptu Second Lines and would know better than to try to cut you off in traffic.

A friend of mine did an FQ second line recently, and the officer she contacted for the permit helped her plan the route and then the police escorts stopped all the traffic as we went...we paraded right down the middle of Canal St. on a Saturday night, no problem!

I believe you need to get a parade permit for a second line (the permit may even be called something else).
