WDYT of our possible china sets?

Help! We are having trouble deciding between these two china sets:

Option 1 (clicky)

Option 2 (clicky)

I know it's subjective, but FI isn't much help and I'm extremely indecisive, so any feedback/insight is appreciated! Our everyday dishes are white.

Thank you! :)

  • I also prefer the Kate Spade one.

  • Ok, I hope this doesn't confuse you too much, but check out Vintage Jewel by Lenox. It's got the dark bands like the Kate Spade, but more of the shiny/patterned look of the Noritake. Full disclosure - it's my china pattern, lol.

Otherwise, I'd probably go with the Kate Spade since I'm a big fan of the contrast.

  • They both are lovely.  I would go into the store to see them in person - that may help with your decision.  My mom and my grandma both have a very similar pattern to the Kate Spade, but it's gold trim instead of the ebony.  Both are classic and timeless
  • The're both pretty. Just a warning: I wanted to register for a Kate Spade and the lady at Macys said her dishes are not dishwasher safe. So I quickly picked a Lenox! haha

  • Having seen both of them in person, I prefer the Noritake, but I also am not a fan of stark contrast on dinnerware for whatever reason, so there's that.

A note about china being dishwasher safe. My china is dishwasher safe, and there is  no way I would ever put it in the dishwasher. It will last longer and have less of a chance of the platinum/designs fading over time due to time in the dishwasher. Just my two cents. :)
  • Just my personal opinion, I much prefer the Kate Spade

<div>This can't possibly be true - Lenox manufactures Kate Spade.</div><div>
</div><div>OP, I prefer the Kate Spade as well, but they are both good brands.  I'm fairly certain that Union Street doesn't have any metallic rims so they should be microwave safe as well.  Double check that though.</div>

  • I would go see them in person. FI and I chose ours based on the weight and feel of them. One that we loved online had an impossibly tiny base and would tip over if you cut food anywhere but the exact middle of the plate! Sometimes the practical considerations can help break the tie.
