Are you and/or your FI giving a speech?

Originally we hadn't planned on giving speeches at our wedding, but FI just told me that he thinks it would be weird not to. What do you think? Are you planning to speak? If so, at what point in the evening are you doing it?

No, we're not planning on giving a speech at the reception.  My dad will give a short speech to welcome the guests, FI's dad might say grace, and then MOH and BM are giving toasts between courses.  We thought that was plenty of speeches and that we didn't need to give any more. We will be sure to do table visits and thank our guests for coming personally.

We will probably give speeches at the RD thanking our parents and the wedding party for all of their support.

That's what I was thinking of doing. We are having a very small wedding, and with only 6 guest tables it will be quite easy to spend time with each table to thank them for coming. As it is, there are a lot of people who will be giving speeches, so I think the guests will be all speeched-out.

We will do speeches at the rehearsal dinner for close friends and family and just thank our guests at the reception.

Funny you ask because MOH, my mom and I were just discussing this. I'd never heard of the B&G speaking at the wedding until I was watching My Fair Wedding. We would like to make a toast at the RD to thank our closest friends and family for all of their support throughout our lives and the wedding planning. At the wedding, we plan to thank each guest, but my dad will give the welcome speech and everyone in our small bridal party is welcome to give a short toast if they would like. (only 4 each and a number of them do not like public speaking, so if they say anything it will be a very very brief thank you).
