Chicago Downtown Reception Spaces

I was wondering if anyone has had any expierence with any downtown locations fo rreceptions and can sugges a good place? We have only looked at one venue, the westin on Michigan Ave. I loved the view of the rooftop ballroom and it would work with our guests because we want no more than 150, but we are concerned about the minimun of 15,000 with our budget. If you have any ideas I would love the help! Thanks and happy holidays!

Hotel Allegro, monaco, allerton, might be places to check into.

When we booked our wedding, most of the minimums were AT LEAST 15k. I'm not sure I saw any less than that-maybe the monaco, but I was married over a year ago. Hth!

If you have a smaller budget, you might try doing a restaurant downtown with a private dining space instead of a hotel.  My FI and I are doing it that way, and most places we looked into had around a $5000 minimum - we even negoiated with our venue and got them to lower their minimum for us.  We found this to be a much less expensive route than hotels.  Good luck!

If you are having 150 people, I don't think you will have any trouble hitting a 15K minimum in the city. I don't really know of any venues that have a less than 15K minimum either, unless like the PP said, a restaurant might be negotiable. But you won't fit 150 in most restaurants:( The most affordable places in the city I found were Pazzo's, Crystal Gardens at Navy Pier, Salvatore's, Holiday Inn Mart Plaza. HTH!

If you like having the view of the city take a look at Holiday Inn Mart Plaza. The Wolf point ballroom has awesome views of the river, sears tower ect.  I am having my wedding there in June. Their prices are very good for the city and the minimum is not as high. Hope this helps!

We are having our wedding reception at Grand Piazza on Taylor Street. It has a beautiful roof top terrace that overlooks the whole city. There is a large modern ballroom below. The prices were reasonable for the city, and the food is the best around. I can't remember the minimum offhand though.

Pazzo's is also another good choice and is VERY reasonable. They book really far in advance, so that's why we didn't go there. (They were booked over 1.5 years in advance when I looked over the summer.)

    Good luck!

A friend of mine used the Whitehall Hotel on Delaware.  No views at all, but the food was excellent.

Hotel 71 is right on the river and has AMAZING views. I know their minimum is $15k as well but is much lower on sunday if that's an option. But as others have said, you would not have a hard time meeting that minimum if it's in your budget.

i forgot to mention you could also find many dates available if you open them to friday/sunday reception dates, and i think you will also get a discount at most places and also with limos .. i think..
