Show Me Your...

...aisle decoration inspiration.  I've seen a lot of photos of aisles decorated with candles like the one below and all I can think of is FIRE!  I'll be wearing a cathedral length veil and I just don't think that'd work.

What are you doing?

Re: Show Me Your...

  • I think I"m going with nothing only because it's outside and I'm lazy. :)  I love the candle look but I get being afraid to light something on fire but I think if you make the aisle wide enough it could work.  You could always have taller candle holders with short candles so there is good distance between the flame and the top of the glass.
  • LED candles would work, too. No chance of them going out or kids knocking them over.
  • We're not doing aisle decorations/it's not allowed at our church. I like your inspiration pic though!
  • We are making kissing balls.  I have already started. Here is a pic:

They will be hanging on shepherd hooks.  Other than that we aren't doing anything.  We will be outside so there will be lots of natural beauty :)

  • We're limited on what we can use to decorate in the church, but we are having two arrangements on columns at the back of the church on either side of the aisle like this:

And the two front pews on both sides of the aisle will have these:

  • We aren't decorating our aisle.  I will be walking towards a man-made waterfall in the garden.  That's enough decor for me.  That's part of the reason I chose my venue....I can cut back on flowers and outside decorations because it's already there.
  • I like kaitlyn's ideas of the led candles, I always forget about those.
  • You know, it never occurred to me that a wider aisle could make candles a possibility.

Courtney & amonis, both your ideas look lovely!

  • Wedding is outdoors at a gazebo, I am just having an aisle runner. Maybe and tanish color close to the color of the sand.

Mine are so picky it's not even worth it. Plus the ceremony will only be like 20 minutes lol
  • I can't decorate the aisle of the church as far as i know. The priest is very strict, he won't even let us have a sand ceremony because it is not a tradition of the catholic church.

  • Technically I don't have an aisle. I'm actually walking towards the guests from a breezeway to the side, and then the bridge will be on my left and I just walk up there. The ceremony is in a garden with flowers, palm trees, etc so no major decoration needed. I might have some floral arrangement on the end chairs of every other row or something.

The unity candle and things like that are commercialized items from the wedding industry and there's no mention of it's significance in the Catholic church according to my church. I mean I like the unity candle but it doesn't bother me enough that they discourage it to fight it
  • MyFeverPlays has some beautiful ideas!

Our ceremony is outdoors in a beautfiul garden with a cobblestone path so I'm thinking additional stuff is overkill. I really like your candle idea though; LEDs are safer and make sure your venue even allows open flames - ours doesn't period.

Cathedral veil, open flame, not sure if those things go together ;)

  • I am getting married at a super beautiful Catholic Church and I am not decorating it at all.  Literally nothing.

And in response to a few others talking about their Catholic Churches not allowing unity candles, I have never been to a wedding that didn't have one.  That was one of the things that the wedding coordinator actually pointed out to us (where it would go, etc.) they actually have a stand that they use for unity candles specifically. Interesting how different things are in different areas!

  • I'm doing pomanders hanging from shepard hooks like Chelsea posted.

  • No isle decorations for us, want to save money and enojy the neauty of the church.  I may do some draping of a ribbon from pew to pew or bows where the family will be seated but most likely nothing.  I think anything to make it easiest day of will be a blessing.  If we do anything it will be very simple as it is on a Sunday in a church and we will have to put it up ourselves.  Also, we have to take everything down and dispose of it before leaving and we want to get to the reception!!!
