Getting in Shape

Alcohol + Getting in shape...

So I have been asking for club soda in my sex on the beaches....

What can I drink that is low calorie.... Other than low cal beers.

Re: Alcohol + Getting in shape...

  • Leave the juices out of the drinks.

Though, I recently read that drinking any alcohol at all actually interferes with your body's ability to burn fay so it might be an idea to cutback altogether...

  • When you consume alcohol, your body prioritizes it. It metabolizes the alcohol before any foods that you eat, so it stalls weight loss. I'm a wine drinker myself, but if you're a mixer kind of person, I really don't have suggestions other than to avoid them at all.

[QUOTE]I'd also like to add that wine spritzers are quite tasty. You basically do half wine half club soda. You get the taste of wine, but only half the calories. This works best with sweet wines that are not already carbonated.

<div>Yes! Riesling is best for spritzers.</div>
  • Honestly?  I accounted for wine in my calorie count.  If I had the calories, I drank the wine.  If I didn't, I skipped it.

There were days that I ran just so I could have two glasses of red wine at night.  Haha.

I'm too early in this round of weight loss to say if that's working again for me, but when I did this calorie counting/work out deal two years ago, it worked like a charm.

I also tend to over-estimate how many calories in a glass.  My husband and I prefer very dry red and white wines, but I still assume it has the same calorie count as a sweeter wine.  It gave me a little cushion.
  • Like most things, I believe it's all about moderation - if you really enjoy drinking a certain beverage go ahead and do it, just don't do it every week KWIM? I try to only drink 1 or 2 times a month now. Before I started really trying to lose weight I was drinking 1-2 times a WEEK.

I've also mostly become a wine drinker. I feel like it's more bang for my buck (so to speak) and marginally better for me.

  • Stay away from the mixed drinks or anything with schnapps, juices etc. Try something like vodka and tonic. Since I've cut down on alcohol I've started to lose again.

</div><div>I totally work out harder just so I can drink more wine :)  I love long runs on the weekends, for obvious reasons.

Oh my - you'd be horrified by my husband and I.  We have a glass of wine just about every day.  Ha.
