wtf hair people?

So....Months ago my mom and I went for hair trials at a salon that my makeup artist is currently based out of. They didn't have a record that we were coming for a trial and it was crazy disorganized but we LOVED how our hair came out. We told them when and where the wedding was and that we definitely wanted them. Lots of time passes and we didn't hear anything from them about times or when we paid or w/e. I call today to figure this out and they said that they were surprised they hadn't heard from us and that people usually call them. We never were told to call them (especially since we told them we definitely wanted them). They then asked us if we wanted to do a trial......really?  *facepalm* they also had no record of when and where the wedding was.  Lastly, they said that we had to pay $55/person that day. Then they called back ten minutes later to say that there was also a ten dollar per person travelling fee.

I don't really know if I want to necessarily trust that they will actually be where they say they will, when they say they will, and charge what they said they would. It seems like asking for stress and problems. The only thing is that if I "fire" them and go with a new salon I'd need another hair trial and (this is dumb) but I'm worried about ticking off my makeup artist since she's close with all the staff at the first hair place. What would you guys do. Deal with having to schedule and go to another trial and potentially anger your makeup person or gamble that the first place will actually come through?

Re: wtf hair people?

  • There have got to be other stylists/salons in your area that will do an amazing job.

It doesn't sound like these people value your business and I think it's too big of a risk to take.  They sound flaky and expensive.
  • You know, I had a similar issue with my hair stylist and I ended up switching to another one. The problem is this: Hair stylists are flaky in general (sorry to all of the hair stylists out there!) and the one I'm going with is just as bad as the others . . . so, I mean, I don't know.

If you can get them to confirm in writing that they'll be there, chances are, they'll show up. I had to create one for my hair stylist because she didn't have one. Could you do something like that? Say, I need this in writing after what happened?

  • They sound so disorganized. I wouldn't trust them honestly. Any vendor that give sme a bad vibe right away - I ditched.

  • It sounds like they are unprofessional and disorganized.  If they required information from you, why wouldn't they have called you and if your hair trial was already completed how would they not have a record of you paying for that?   Can you contact your makeup artist and let her know what you are experiencing and that you're getting a bad vibe from them?

My hair/makeup person has everything in writing and we've been exchanging emails about ideas and stuff.  My trial is in a few weeks and I have zero worries at this point.  You shouldn't need to worry about them showing up... that is nuts.
  • I would definitely be calling your makeup artist and telling her your concerns.  Also have you asked around your local board about the hair salon? They sound very flakey and I wouldn't trust them to do my stuff at this point.

  • When I went for my hair trial we signed a contract with everything listed in it. The price, the location everything! If you do go with them make then sign a contract! This way there is no ifs ands or buts!
