Question for the married ladies (changing name)

Sorry if this was asked recently, but I looked back a few pages and couldn't find it.
I took a 1/2 day from work tomorrow to go deal with changing my name and I'm not sure which to start with - social security or driver's license?

For those ladies that have done it already - which did you do first and what do you need for both?  Can i do them both on the same day?

I tried looking online but keep getting mixed answers!

TIA!

I went to the SS office and then straight to the DMV. You will need your marriage license with a seal from your county and a seal from your church, your old SS card, and your Driver's License (its ok if your old last name is on there)

At the DMV, you will need a check or money order, and your marriage licence.

I went to SS office and then driver's license center.

I went to the Mt. Lebo SS office and all they asked for was my marriage certificate that the priest had given us. Same at the driver's license center in Bridgeville.

Thank you!  I don't think our marriage license has two seals on it - but I will have to check when I get home.

The SS office gives you back the marriage license right away then?  That's great so I can get both of them down tomorrow.

I did SS office first. Did DMV a little after because my license was up for renewal anyway so I did it all at one time. It can be hit or miss at the SS office re: the marriage license. I did the triple seal copy to be on the safe side--I'd called SS and the reason they ask for the triple seal is because it has the birthdates/ages on it as it includes all the info you listed on the application. They want this info due to the increase of fraud/identity theft in recent years. But some ladies here have gotten by without it, and others have had to have it, it seems to be the luck of the draw on who you get.

At the SS office downtown, the security guard asked me if I had the triple seal copy of my marriage license before he even let me in to get in line.  The nice part is that they give you a paper right away that indicates that you changed your name and that you will have your new card in two weeks.  Most of my name changes required some copy of my marriage license.  I can't remember what all I needed at the DMV, but I know I completed a form I printed from the website and took in.  I believe if I was just doing the name change it was free, but since I wanted a new photo license it cost $12.00.  I found it interesting that in some cases, for example, my Macy's card, I just had to call and say I had a name change.  In other cases, like some of the utility companies, I had to send a copy of my marriage license.
