Re: WPBP of the day

  • What did you want to be when you grew up?: Not really sure yet.

What do you do now?: I'm an administrative assistant

Do you like your job?: Yea, except the receptionist part.

Do you like your boss? Why or why not?: Ehh.

  • What did you want to do when you grew up?Forensic Anthropology...like Bones. It was my orginial major but I couldn't afford to go out of state to pursue that. I just got a management degree in state. Biggest mistake ever!

What do you do now? Marketing for a Land Real Estate Firm; although, i'm also the janitor, secretary, accountant, and mapping girl.

Do you like your job? I loathe it

Do you like your boss? No, he's annoying. He is a motivational speaker and very religious. He tries to push that on us. He also talks a good game but then tries to manipulate people and worm his way into deals that he has no part of. He also uses company funds to buy personal items like new shoes, etc.

  • What did you want to be when you grew up? For a brief period, I wanted to be a fairy godmother.  Besides that, I've always wanted to be a teacher.

What do you do now? Since I graduated 2 years ago, I've been working part-time in retail and substitute teaching...but I finally got a job doing what I have my degree in, so I start teaching music in August.

Do you like your job? I've spent several weeks subbing in the school I got my job in, so I am pretty hopeful I'll love it.

Do you like your boss? Why or why not? As far as I know, my principal is pretty cool.  He seems like he'll be really supportive with what I want to do.

  • Suz--Wow, your boss pretty much sucks.  I think that goes beyond annoying.
  • What did you want to be when you grew up?
A respiratory therapist.  I quickly outgrew that when I was doing my rotations as a nursing assistant.  I can't stand to hear people cough things up from their lungs all day.

    What do you do now?
I'm finishing up my nursing degree.

    Do you like your job?
I'm not working while in school but I did like my job as a CNA.

Do you like your boss? Why or why not?
I like my professors.  They're really encouraging but super strict.

  • What did you want to be when you grew up?
    A writer.

    What do you do now?
    I am an administrative assistant.

    Do you like your job?
It's okay.  I don't mind the job.  I hate some of the people I have to deal with.  Particularly the ones that get on my case for being young (I'm the oldest "church secretary" in our diocese...by about 20 years).

Do you like your boss? Why or why not?
My boss is ten different kinds of awesome.

What did you want to be when you grew up? The very first thing I *remember* wanting to be was a butterfly in the Disney Electric Light Parade, lol. Over the years, it evolved, but I pretty much always wanted to do something performance art based.

What do you do now? I'm an insurance processor.

Do you like your job? I like that I get paid more than I would in retail to do something that's a million times easier ... but I kind of hate the fact that I don't care either way about what I do. I don't like it, I don't hate it, I just "nothing" it. If I were absolutely miserable or stressed or something, I would look into finding something else and quitting.

It also really doesn't help that my department recently did a ton of lay-offs, followed by a bunch of people quitting ... everybody that's still here has been uber-pissy about it.

Do you like your boss? Why or why not? I guess ... I kind of "nothing" my boss, too.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was little, I wanted to be the person that painted makeup on barbie dolls' faces.

    What do you do now?
I am an administrative assistant at a global mining and construction equipment company.

    Do you like your job?
For the most part.  I'm looking to move on to a different job within the company soon, though.

Do you like your boss? Why or why not?
Eh. She is extremely blunt.  I think she means well, but she has no tact.

  • What did you want to be when you grew up?  Vetrinarian or TV show host.

What do you do now?  Corporate librarian.

Do you like your job?  Most days.

Do you like your boss? Why or why not?  Yes. He's not a micromanager and he is supportive when you need him.

  • Jagore and Saxy - Yep, bad isn't it. But not only he is my boss...but part owner of the company. The other owner is his college roommate and about the same!

  • What did you want to be when you grew up?  A housewife...promise. I wanted to sit at home and watch t.v all day.

What do you do now? Accountant at hospital.

Do you like your job?  Yes, it's what I went to school for, flexible boss and decent pay

Do you like your boss? Why or why not?  She is okay because she's flexible and we get along fairly well. I don't like that she's lazy and won't help out during crunch-times.
  • What did you want to be when you grew up? Professional ice skater, but more recently a doctor.

What do you do now?  I'm a research technician, aka a lab rat.

Do you like your job?  Absolutely!  I discovered I'm better off as a tech, anyway.  Lack of grace exempts me from the ice skating thing, too.

Do you like your boss? Why or why not?  Yes.  We don't always communicate well, but he's a great guy and is a good boss at the end of the day.  And, I've had enough really terrible bosses to appreciate a good one when I see it!

  • What did you want to be when you grew up?  Everything!  I could never make up my mind.  Everyone else knew that I was going to be a writer from the time I wrote my first short story in second grade, but it took a while for me to figure that out.

What do you do now?  I do technical support for a major university.

Do you like your job?  It's not what I want to be doing long term, but as menial day jobs go, it's pretty boss.  It's a steady schedule, I'm making WAAAY more than I expected to make straight out of college, it's pretty secure (no layoffs, we've actually been hiring), and I mostly sit around answering phones.  Plus, I have time to do my spec stuff on the side.

Do you like your boss? Why or why not?  He's pretty chill.  Very stereotypically nerdy, though.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • What did you want to be when you grew up?  zookeeper, vet, optometrist, CSI

What do you do now? I teach chemistry and remedial math at a community college

Do you like your job? I love it, even though just 2 years ago I had absolutely no interest in teaching!  I really like talking about chemistry.  I took this as a job, but I'm thinking it'll turn into a career. :)

Do you like your boss? Why or why not?  They're both great.  I love that they don't micromanage but still give me a little structure.  Basically, I'm told what chapters I'm supposed to cover, then I just do my thing.
  • What did you want to be when you grew up? A teacher. I don't really know why. I like kids, and I do teach faith formation at the church I work at, but I could not be a teacher. I don't have the patience to do the hard work they do.

What do you do now? My title is "Secretary" for a church, but I'm also the bulletin editor and work with our faith formation programs. I do the music for Vacation Bible School and work with and make the lessons for our Children of God program, which is for children with special needs.

Do you like your job? I love it. I know it's not a career job, but it's great for right now.

Do you like your boss? Why or why not? Yep. I have 2 bosses actually, and both are wonderful.

  • What did you want to be when you grew up?  A teacher or social worker

What do you do now?  Operations for a healthcare company

Do you like your job?  Most of the time, yes.  I have 2 of my best friends that work there and it's a great perk.

Do you like your boss? Why or why not? Just got a new boss, due to a reorg. He lives in another state and is nice.

  • What did you want to be when you grew up?  A novelist.
What do you do now? Almost-a-lawyer.
Do you like your job? If I thought I'd eventually get paid to do it, yes.
Do you like your boss? Why or why not?  My bosses are long on criticism and short on praise, but I'm learning a lot so I can't complain.  I can't say whether I like them personally or not because I barely know them, but I'm glad I'm working for them.
