Venues allowing outside caterers?

We have a large wedding (300 guests) with a small budget, so we need a place that can fit everyone but still allow us to use a local restaurant to cater. Any ideas for venues like this in the Atlanta area (downtown or north/northeast outside the perimeter). All ideas are appreciated!

Re: Venues allowing outside caterers?

  • I am in northeast georgia, just outisde Atlanta, and I'm also seeking a nice venue that will allow outside catering.  We have a catering business in the family and will consider no others.  I'm having a very hard time finding venues that allow outside caterers and will be watching this thread :P
If anyone has information on a place where we can have an outdoor ceremony and indoor or pavilion-type reception for about 100 guests, I'd love to hear about it.

</div><div>One of the places I looked at was 550 Trackside. It's indoor, but they allow outside catering. My friend had her reception there (another friend had both the ceremony and reception there), and it was beautiful! </div><div>

</div><div>The KTN Ballroom also allows outside caterers. </div><div>

We're getting married next month at the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center in Buford. They allow outside catering and it's a gorgeous facility! If you call or go by for a visit, ask for Lisa Howell, she's terrific. Edit: I just re-read your post. Not sure if the facility is large enough for 300 people but look into it and see if they can accommodate you.

  • I'm just signed a venue for my reception: It's Venue 92 in woodstock.  They have preferred caterers but told me that for a fee of only $250 they would allow me to use someone different.  Its a brand new place and really nice.  Plus the venue itself was pretty reasonable for the fee, and included some nice extras like fancy lighting and a GOBO projection.  My wedding is only set at 200 (hopefully a little less once we get invitations out, but I plan for all just in case) but I think the website said it can hold 300 total.
  • We are getting married at Chukkar Farm Polo Club in Alpharetta.  They have a beautiful, covered pavillion with ivory chandeliers and a huge lawn area.  They allow outside caterering.  It's very reasonable and beautiful!

  • Thanks everyone for your input! Some of those venues are BEAUTIFUL! Our guest list has grown (we're up to 350 people now), but we've decided to use the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds for our ceremony and reception. It's a cheap option that will hold all of our guests comfortably, and we can pretty much do whatever we want with the decorations, caterers, DJs, etc. Thanks!
